Permission is requested to install a 1000 gallon Fuel Oil tank under the sidewall
on the Tyler Street side of our store building at the corner of Tyler and Lawrence Streets.
Tank will be covered with at least four feet of earth and will be installed in accordance
with Underwriter's specifications and Lhe ordinances of the city.

Affidavit of Canvass of the Returns of City Election September 8, 1936.

I, H. E. Anderson, County Auditor for Jefferson County, Wlashington
and ex-officio Clerk of the Jefferson County Election Board, do hereby certify that the fol-
lowing is a full, true and correct statement of the canvass made by daid Hoard on the 15 day
of September, 1936, of the returns certified to the County Auditor of Jefferson County, flash
ington, by the election officials of the seven voting precincts of the special election held
in the City of Port Townsend, Vlashington,onnthe 8th day of September, 1936, under Ordinance
No. 1067 of said City; at which election there was submitted to the qualified voters of said
city for ratification or rejection, the three propositions for special an additional tax lev
ies, as follows:
Proposition I. Shall the City Council of the City of Port Townsend be authorized to
collect during the year 1937, the sum of approximately 91,740.00, by a special and addition-
al levy of 1.75 mills on the dollar of aasesscd valuation of said city, in excess of the.cit
levy empowered by Chapter 2, Laws of the State of Wfashington, 1935, (Initiative Measure No.9 )

for the purpose of operating and maintaining the free public library of said city?
That the whole number of votes cast upon said proposition at said election visa 1151,
of which number 863 were cast in favor of said proposition, and 288 were cast against

PROPOSITIOII II. Shall the City Council of the Cit of Port Townsend be authorized to
collect during the year 1937, the sum of approximately vl,235.00 by a special and additions.

That the whole number of votes cast upon said proposition at said election was 1119, o
which number 787 were cast in favor of said proposition, and 332 were cast against sai

Proposition III. Shall the City Council of the City of Port Townsend be authorized to
collect during the year 1937, the sum of Approximately p3,965.00, by a special and addition 1
levy of 4.00 mills upon the dollar of assessed valuation of said city in excess of the city
levy empowered by Chapter 2, Laws of the State of ',?ashington, 1935, (Initiative No. 94), fo
the purpose of improving and maintaining the streets of the City of Port Townsend?
That the whole ndmber of votes cast upon said proposition was 1150, of which number,
842 were cast in favor of said proposition, and 308, were cast against said proposition.

voted for the office of governor at the general election of Novomber, 1932, were 1491.

BIDS FOR TRAFFIC SIGNAL EQUIPMENT.
This being the date set for opening bids for :furnishing the equipment End for
installation of traffic signals, the Mayor declared same to be in order.
The Eagle Signal Corporation of Llmline, Illinois, was the only bidder for furnish
the equipment, their proposal containing several alternate bids.
The Kendall Electric Co., of Port Townsend, hash, was the only bidder for install-
ing the equipment, and they also submitted several alternate bids.
These proposals were all read in full, after which the said proposals were referre
to the Council as a whole.
Recess:
It was moved by Councilman Naughton and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that

Reconvened, and Roll Call.
Council reconvened at 9:00 p.m., and upon Roll Call, all
seven councilmen,and the City Attorney and the City Clerk were present.
VNIMMING POOL.
A delegation from the Rotary Club being present, the privilege of addres
ing the Council was accorded their members, and imr. H. S. Saari and Dr. L. H. Campbell spoke
in favor of establishing a swimming pool and requested that the City sponsor the project, as
their organization could not do so, both members informing the council of their plans and as
to the obligation to be assumed by the city.
To Sponsor Pool.
It was then moved by Councilman Lafferjy and seconded by Councilman
Sather that the City sponsor the city bathing pool as outlined by the speakers Epr`the Rotar
Upon Roll call vote, all seven councilmen voted in the affirmative and motion was declared
carried.
Llayor and Cleric to Sign.
It was moved by Councilman DeLeo and seconded by Councilman
Lafferty that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to sign the necessary papers to
sponsor the pool. Upon Roll Call vote, all seven councilmen voted in favor thereof and 1,10
tion was declared carried.
Recess:
It was moved by Councilman DeLeo and seconded by Councilman Hirtzler that the
ouncil recess for 10 or 15 minutes to enable the council to study the Traffic signal propo-
sals. Motion declared carried.
Reconvened and Roll call.
Council reconvened at.9:45 P.M., and upon roll call, there
were present City Attorney 11. J. Daly, City Clerk C. F. Christian, and Councilmen Lafferty,
ammers, Sather, Hirtzlor McGee and DeLeo; Councilman Naughton having been excused for the
emainder of the session.
Traffic Signals Chosen.
It was then moved by Councilman DeLeo and seconded by Councilmi
,ather that a 3-lens signal be installed at 1•later and Taylor Streets, and that a blinker sign
be installed at Lawrence and Tyler Streets; total cost for equipment to be 028.83, and for
installation to be fp157.11. Upon Roll call vote, all six councilmen present voted in the
affirmative and motion was declared carried.
