RE: Adding Machine, from Treasurer.
A communication from the City Treasurer, r elative to adding machine service, was
presented and read, as follows:
To the Honorable 1nyor Port Townsend, Washington, August 4, 1936.
and City Councilmen.
Gentlemen: -
With reference to a statement issued by the Bµrroughs Adding Machine Company,
billing the City of Port Townsend under a contract for the repaib and upkeep of the City's
adding machines, I request that the part referring to Yachine No. 145195 be excluded from i.'
the contract and cancelled in accordance with the terms of the contract.
This machine, in use in the treasurer's office, is of a type with which I am very
familiar and I have seen them in use for many years without attention of any kind under con
ditions more rigorous than this machine receives. I checked with the Treasurer of Jeffer
son County and the First American National Bank of Port Townsend and they also do not feel
the necessity of including machines of this type in their service contracts.
The billing is for the second half of 1936 and their usual form of service contra
provides for cancellation at any time by either party to the contract. The annual saving
to the upkeek of the Treasurer's office would be 111.10.
Very truly yours,
E. LI. Stockand
City Treasurer.
