Councilman Sather brought up the matter of installing a stop and go traffic light at the intersection of Washington and Taylor Streets, and after some discussion the City Clerk was instructed to write to dealers in such equipment and ascertain prices complete, including maintenance costs. Lateral Parking on Taylor Street. The matter of traffic problems was also brought up and it was moved by Councilman Hirtzler and seconded by Councilman Sather that the Council recommend to the the Mayor that he instruct the Police Department to allow lateral parking only, on Taylor Street south of Water Street. Motion declared carried. Additional Water Mains. In the matter of extending water mains as petitioned for by prospective patrons, City Engineer Campbell took up the proposed extensions in the California Addition and rec- ommended that a 4' tood pipe be laid on Landes Street from 49th St. to 53rd St. and that a 1P" iron pipe be laid beyond 53rd St., to supply comsumers beyond that point; also that an:! iron pipe be laid on Jackman St., connecting with the 2" inch main, to supply patrons be- yond the end of the 2 inch pipe. California Addition Main Approved. It was then moved by Councilman Hirtzler and neo- onded by Councilman Sather that the said extensions as outlined by Engineer Campbell be constructed if funds are available for same. Motion declared carried. "Four corners", U St. and Roosevelt St. Approved. It was further moved by Councilman Hirtzler and seconded by Councilman Sather that a 4 inch main be laid from a connection with the Hadlock-Irondale tap -off on the main line, along the Chimacum-Keymes cut-off to a point to supply the five cottages situate west of the State Highway, and to construct the propos6d:textensions on U and Roosevelt Streets if funds are available for same. Motion declared carried. Moon Service - Irondale. Councilman Lammers brought up the matter of the application of a Mr. Moon of Iron dale to have his property re -connected to the water main. Mr. Moon had stated to Counci an Lammers that he had sold this property on contract and that the purchaser had forfeited his contract and moved away leaving an unpaid water bill which Moon was requested to pay before the water would be turned on again. It appearing that the City Y7ater System is entitled to collect from the property for four months delinquency, it was moved by Councilman Sather and seconded by Councilman Hirtzler that the owner be required to pay the four -months back indebtedness before the property may be connected again. Motion declared carried. ADJOURNMENT. Upon motion of Councilman Hirtzler, seconded by Councilman Sather, the Council voted to adjourn. Lammers, Mayor pro tem. presiding in the absence of Mayor Bangerter. ROLL CALL. Upon Roll Call the following city officers and councilmen answered present, to-wi City Attorney W. J. Daly, City Clerk C. F. Christian, and Councilmen H. L. Hirtzler, Sam McGee, Peter Naughton, W. S. Lafferty and Wm. Lammers Sr., councilmen De Leo and.Sather ar- riving later in the session. MINUTES APPROVED. The minutes of the regular session of July 7, 1936, were read and approved as real, REPORTS OF OFFICERS. Clark re: traffic signal. The. City Clerk reported that, pursuant to instructions, he had mailed inquiries to the General Electric Company, the Westinghouse Electric & Mfg Co., the Eagle Signal 6or- poration and to W. S. Darley & Co., relative to cost of traffic signal, installation of sam , etc., but was not yet in receipt of replies. WPA. Loan of Tools. He further reported that an application had been signed by the Mayor and City Clerk for the loan of tools for the use of the WPA workers on street and highway work if such tools are needed. Water Supt. June Report. The report of the Water Superintendent for the month of June 1936, was presented, read, and referred to the Water Committee. Main Line Meter Readings. The reports of the Water Supt., shooing the flow of water through the main line meters for the period ending July 20, 1936, were presented, read, and ordered filed. Defeo arrives. Councilman Defeo arrived at this time and took his seat in the council Sidewalk Estimate. A report and estimate of the cost of certain sidewalks was submitted by City En- gineer Campbell, and was read as follows: Port Townsend, Washington, July 21 „1936. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Washington, Gentlemen: Pursuant to the order of the Council, I herewith present an estimate of the cos constructing cement sidtnvalka on Adams Street, between Water and Washington Sts., and on Washington Street along the northerly e8deof Lot 2, Block 41, Original Townsite. Estimates include sidewalk 12 feet in width, curb and gutter, and retaining walls also, where required. That part of the proposed Adams Street walk extending out to the curb line of Washington Street is also included in the estimate. Cost is apportioned to the several pieces of property as requested by the Council Respectfully submitted, T. W. Campbell, City Engineer. Estimate for Concrete Sidewalks on Adams Street. F. W.
