S Resolution adopted. It was then moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said Resolution be adopted. The Clerk presented forms which had been received from the PuPet Sound Navy Yard, requesting the city to submit a bid for supplying naval vessels with fresh water, as may cell at port Tdv:nsend and desire to be supplied. A 4 r Sidewalks: '' Considerable discussion was had relative to poor condition of sidewalks and crossings but no action was taken by the Council. Truck Licenses: Mayor Bangerter asked for an expression of opinion on the part of the Council in regard to the enforcement of the ordinance requiring trucks to be licensed. A majority of �( ! ay �,, x ;.• the expressed opinion appeared to be in favor of enforcing the ordinance and the Mayor there I { upon instructed the Chief of Police, who was present, to proceed with the collection of the said licenses. The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Port Townsend, "ashington, met in regular session this 19th day of May, 1936, at 8 otclock P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Council man WM. Lammers, Mayor pro tem. presiding in the absence of Mayor Bangerter. ROLL CALL. Upon Roll Call those answering present were City Attorney W. J. Daly, City Clerk C. F. C7u•istian, and Councilmen P!. S. Lafferty, 'Wm. Lammers Sr., Paul H. Sather, H. L. Hirt ler and Sam McGee; Councilman Naughton arriving later in the session. MINUPES RED APPROVED. The Minutes of the regular session of May 5, 1936, were read and approved as read BILLS AND CLAIMS. Mrs. M. R. Thompson, for wood. The bill of Mrs. M. R. Thompson in the amount of $50.00 for 10 cords of wood supplied to the City Hall in March, was presented to the Council for their disposal, the said bill having been overlooked at the first regular session in May. (The said claim was assigned to the First Americat National Bank). It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Hirtzler that the said claim be allowed and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to execute a warrant upon the proper fund in payment of same. Upon Roll Call vote, all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. REPORTS OF OFFICERS. Treasurer's April Report. The Treasurer's Report for the month of April, 1936, was presented, read, and referred to the Finance Committee. Water Suptfs April Report. The report of the Water Suparirtendent for the month of April, 1936, was presented, read, and referred to the Water and Drainage Committee. Main Line Meter Readings. The report of the Water Superintendent showing the flow of water through the main line meters for the period ending May 18, 1936, was presented, read and ordered filed. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. McGee, on Blocking Garbage Dump. Councilmen McGee, reporting verbally, stated that the garbage contractor had complained to him those in charge of disposing of the rubbish from and in the rear of the county building to be used as a veteran's hall, had not properl disposed of the same at the city dump, in that this rubbish was dumped in such a manner as to block the roadway to the beach. He further stated that he had been informed that the City Street Department equipment and men had been used to do the work. He consi2ered the the garbage contractor had a legitimate complaint, and fi:rther that inasmuch as the propert belonged to the county, it was the duty of the county to clean up this rubbish and that oil trunks should not have been used. ' Councilman Sather, Chairman of the Street Committee, stated that Councilman Naughton had spoken to him relative to the use of the city equipment and since it was a community project, he could see no objection to the use of the use of the city equipment and had givr his consent. Water Main Extension - California Add. Councilman Lammers, reporting on the proposed water main extension in the Califol nia Addition, stated that the Committee would recommend that a 4 inch main be installed on certain streets to insure circulation and that the iron pipe now used coilld be used for fu: they extensions, all contingent upon potential water users.signing up for taps and water s, vice. Also that Mr. E. S. Johnson will make a canvass of the residents in that vicinity ascertain hour many new patrons can be added to the system. BUILDING PERMITS. Applications for Building Permits were presented, read, and disposed of as follows: From Edward F. Drake, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington, May 16, 1936. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash. Gentlemen: Permission is requested to erect a dwelling house on my property, Lots 9 and 11, Block 21 of Plummers Addition, at an estimated coat of $2000.00 for material. Respectfully submitted, Edward F. Drake. From Frank DeLeo, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington, May 7, 1936. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash. Gentlemen: Permission is requested to change the style of the front of the building at 725 Water Street and to refloor the ground -floor store room with hardwood flooring; also to in- stall wainscoting�in the same room.
