Upon Roll Call vote, all five Council men present voted in the affirnmative and motion was declared carried. NOTE Councilman Peter Naughton urrived during the reading of the minutes of the previo, session and tooks sea n e Council. REPORTS OF OFFICERS. M..ayor Appoints Stockand. Mayor Bungerter notified the Council of the appointment of E. bi. Stockand as City Treasurer by written announcement, as follows: Port Townsend, Washington, May 4th, 1936 To the City Council and City Clerk of the City of Port Townsend, Port Townsend, Vlashtngton. Gentlemen: Pursuant to authority vested in me under Section 9119, Remington's Compiled Stat utes of 74ashington, I have this ''day appointed one E. M. Stockand of the City of Port Townsen to fill the vacancy in the office of City Treasurer by reason of the death of Harriett E. Dobbs. As soon as Mr. Stockand has qualified in the manner provided by law, his acts will be entitled to full faith and credit and as the acts of the City of Port Townsend in the capacity of City 'Treasurer. ]iespectfully, Dr. George Bangerter, Mayor. Stockand took Oath and Submitted Bond. ' The City Clerk then informed the Council that Mr. Stockand had subscribed to the oath of office and had filed his bond in the penal sum of 915,000.00, which bond had been approved by the City Attorney and the Mayor as to form and sufficiency respectively. Letter from City Attorney Re: County Easement for Pine Line. City Attorney Daly submitted the .following report, relative to easement, to -wit: Port Tovnsend, Vlashington, May 5th, 1936. Honorable Mayor and City Council, City of Port Townsend, Gentlemen: On yesterday I appeared before the Bard of County:Commissioners for Jefferson County and requested the execution of a formal easement for the construction and maintenance of the city pies line along the Heymes cut-off road. Before the County would enter into such a formal easement, it was requested that there be secured from the Council written authority to the effect that the city would, in the future, save the county harmless from breaks or leaks in the line to the damage to the county road. I believe the passage of the inclosed resolution will bring the desired result, Respectfully, '8. J. Daly, City Attorney. The report of the Chief of Police for the month of April, 1936, was presented, read, and ordered filed. ENGINEER CAYPBELL REPORTS. City Engineer Campbell reported verbally that he had gone to Olympia and conferrer personally with the PV1A officials relative to change orders and extensions and learned that the city could use the funds appropriated for the water system betterments and extensions, up to the full amount, but the City Council must specify where and how the money is to be spent and then secure the approval of the Public Storks Administration. Councilman 'Tony DeLeo arrived at this period and took his seat in the Council. :,:ayor George Bangerter now arrived and thereafter presided. REQUISITIONS. Police Denartment: The Police Department presented a requisition for the following articles: 1 - Fire Extinguisher 2 - #410 gas guns and shells, (signed) Geo. 1,11illestoft, Chief of Police. It was moved by Councilman Naughton end seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said requisition be granted. Lotion declared carried.
