PORT TOWNSEND, WASHING'TON, JANUARY 21, 1936,
The CITY COUNCIL of The City of Port Townsend, Washington, met in regular session this
21st,day of January, 1936, at 7.30 o'clock p.m., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall,
Councilman ',*;in. Lammers, Mayor Pro tem, presiding in the absence of Mayor Bangerter.
ROLL CALL:
Upon Roll Call the following answered present: City Attorney Y!. J. Daly, City
Clerk C. F. Christian, and Councilmen S. Lafferty, Win. Lammers Sr., 11. L. Hirtzler and
San McGee; Councilmen Tony De Leo and Peter Naughton arrived during reading of the minutes
of the previous session.
BILLS AND CLAIMS.
Puget Sound Pourer & Light Co.
The bill of the Puget Sound Power & Light Co., for
electric aervice for the month of December, 1935, in the amount of $152.70, was now presents
and read.
It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Naughton that the
said bill be approved and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to draw a warrant
upon the proper fund in payment thereof. Upon Roll Call vote, all six Councilmen present
voted in favor thereof and motion was declared carried.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS.
Treasurer's December Report:
The report of the City Treasurer for the month of Decem-
ber, 1935, was presented, read, and referred to the Finance Committee.
Water Supt. December Report:
The report of the Water Superintendent for the month of
December, 1935, visa presented, read, and referred to the Water Committee.
Main Line Flow;
The roport of the Water Superintendent, showing the average daily flc
of water through'.,the main line meters, ilor the period ending January 18th, was presented,
read, and ordered filed.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES:
Finance and Claims;
Committee on Finance and Claims made the following written report:

BUILDING PERMITS:
Applications for Building Permits were presented, read, and disposed of as follows:

Gentlemen:
permission is requested to erect a frame dwelling horse on my property, Lots -
6, Block 17, Al Pettygrove Addition. Building will be situated on Lots 5 and 6. Coat

as the Lashua property in Block 17 of Bracken's Addition. Coast is estimated at $100.00.

From Central Hotel, to -writ:

Port Townsend, Wash.
Gentlemen:
Permission is requested to build a partition in the vacant room on the Water St,
frontage of the Central Hotel. Work to include installation of doors, etc., for two roc
in place of the present single entrance and rear exit. Cost is estimated at 475.00.

I hereby make application for building permit to repair my cottage located at
1224 Franklin Street. Estimated cost of material $500.00.

It was moved by Councilman Hirtzler and seconded by Councilman DeLeo that the said
permits be granted. Motion declared carried.
From J. With, to -wit:
Port TONnsend, `Nash., January 20, 1936
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council,
Port Townsend, `Nash.
Gentlemen:
Permission is requested to repair the sidewalk in front of my property at 631
Water Street. Damage was caused by backing a loaded truck upon the sidewalk and 1t is un-
safe in its present condition.
Respectfully submitted, J. With.
It was moved by Councilman Hirtzler and seconded by Councilman Naughton that the said
permit be granted. Motion declared carried.
Capt. Blake Building Permit.
Capt, Blake, by permission of the Council, brought up the matter of a building
permit for repairs and improvements under way on the premises at 909 Jefferson St., stating
to the Council that he was unaware that a permit was required. He further stated that in
addition to the repairs to the building, he desired to construct a bulkhead to retain the
earth where there was prospect of caving, and that the total cost was estimated at $50.00.
It visa moved by Councilman Hirtzler and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said
permit be granted. Motion declared carried.
Taylor Street Bluff.
Copt. Blake also appealed to the Council that the footing of ear
on the 'Taylor Street Terrace be allowed to remain in place to prevent further caving and he
was assured that the Council had no intention of removing this footing.
COMMUNICATIONS.
Campbell Appointed City Engineer:
A communication from Mayor Bangerter, announcing
the appointment of T. IV. Campbell as City Engineer, was presented and read, as follows:
