Colonel McCleary was permitted to state his reasons for desiring the vacation and it was then moved by Councilman DeLeo and seconded by Councilman Hirtzler a date for the hear- ing on the said petition be set for the 17th of September, 1935, that the usual notices be posted and that a resolution be adopted to that effect. Upon Roll Call vote, all six Coun- cilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Copy of Resolution. The following is a copy of the said resolution, to -wit: RESOLUTION. WHEREAS, Rim. R. McCleary and S. B. Edwards, having filed with the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, a petition requesting the vacation of a part of a street in said city, to -wit: "That portion of Foster Street from the easterly line of Jackson Street to the Westerly line of Clallam Street, in Al Pettygrovets Addition to the City of Port Townsend." Now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend,that a hearing be held on the said petition at 8:00 o'clock p.m., or as soon thereafter as practicable, on Tuesday, the 17th day of September, 1935, in the council chambers of the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Jefferson County, :'ashington, when and where any person or persons may appear sm make exceptions or objectiors to the proposed vacation. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Clerk be, and hereby is, authorized and instructe to post notices of such hearing within the time and in the manner prescribed by the Laws of the State of 'Lashington. Requisitions for supplies were presented, read, and f:isposed of as follows: For Account of Bond Refunding, t6-wit: 40 or 50 copies of Port Townsend Leader containing advertisement of Bond Sale. 40 or 50 mailing wrappers for mailing said papers. For the City Hall, to -wit: 20 cords of wood. (Roy Seavey) It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Hirtzler that the said requisitions be granted and that the City Clark be instructed to advertise for bids to fur- nish the wood; bids to be opened at the regular session of September 3rd. Motion declared carried by viva voce vote. ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS. EMERGENCY ORDINANCE FOR WATER SYSTEM BETTERMENTS. The emergency ordinance to appropriate moneys for betterments of the ::unicipal °water system, introduced at the last regular session of the Council and read in full for the first reading, was now taken up for further consideration. Amendments: It was moved by Councilman Hirtzler and seconded by Councilman Lafferty the the ordinance be amended by increasing the amount to be appropriated. to $34,100.00, and the amount of total estimated cost be increased to $62,000.00. Motion declared carried by viva voce vote. (Original motion to draw ordinance specified A35,000 as amount of appropriation) It was moved by Councilman Hirtzler and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the ordi- nance,be further amended by including the replacement of the Hadlock-Irondale line, which is included in the total estimated cost. Motion declared carried by viva voce vote. It was moved by Councilman Hirtzler and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the pro- posed ordinance be further amended by inserting the following: "Said election shall be hel and conducted in the manner end upon the notice specified by Chapter 150 of the Laws of Wash ington, Session of 1909, as amended, under the supervision and direction of the Jefferson County Election Board." The Clerk then read the proposed ordinance, as amended, for the second reading whereupon it was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Council man Naughton that the third reading be by title only. Upon Roll Call vote, all six council men present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Ordinance Passes. The City Clerk read the said ordinance by title only for the third reading and it was then moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Hirtzler tha the said ordinance do now pass. Upon Roll Call vote all six councilmen present voted in th affirmative -and motion was declared carried. Copy of Ordinance Referred to.
