Water Rates to be surveyed: It was moved by Councilman Hirtzler and seconded by Coun- cilman Sather that the matter of city water rates be turned over to Engineer Campbell for survey and to report back to the Council. Upon Roll Call Vote, Councilman Lafferty, Lam- mers, Sather, Hirtzler, DeLeo and Naughton voted in the affirmative and Councilman McGee voting in the negative. Motion declared carried. It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Bathers that the Counci now adjourn, but before the motion was put, Councilman DeLeo asked that the citizens prbaen be heard if they had anything to present. Councilman Lafferty then withdrew his motion with the consent of his second, and the Mayor inquired if any one desired to be heard, but without anyone presenting anything. Second motion to adjourn. (Lost) Councilman Lafferty again presented a motion to adjourn, seconded by Councilman Sather, but upon the statement of some of the citizens that they did not realize that the Council was about to adjourn, a roll call vote on adjournment was take , Councilmen Lafferty and Lammers voting in the affirmative and Councilmen Sather, Hirtzler, McGee,. De Leo and Naughton voting in the negative. Motion declared lost. Discussion on Water Rates. Upon invitation, several of the citizens present presents protests of various types on the water rate question, the principal complaint appearing to be that consumers on a meter were being penalized in the matter of rates in comparison with the consumer on a flat rate. Councilman Sather, in reply, reminded the complainants, the the Council has just voted to have a survey made and that an honest effort would be made to equalize all rates but that the council could not take snap judgment and must first ascer- tain what effect any proposed changes would have on the revenues of the water department before adopting any new rates or rules. Adjournment. It was moved by Councilman Sather and seconded by Councilman Hirtzler that the Council now adjourn. Upon roll call vote', Councilmen Lammers, Sather Hirtzler and DeLeo voted in the affirmative and Councilmen Lafferty, McGee and Naughton in the nega- tive. Motion declared carried. Attest: you... The CITY COUNCIL of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, met in regular session this 18th day of June, 1935, at 8;00 olclock P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall, Councilman Wm. Lammers, Mayor pro tem. presiding until the arrival of Mayor Bangerter. ROLL CALL: upon roll call there were present City Clerk C. F. Christian, and Council- men 111m. Lammers Sr., Paul H. Sather, H. L. Hirtzler, Sam McGee, Peter Naughton and 71. S. Lafferty; Maya, Bangerter and City Attorney W. J. Daly arriving later in the session. MINUTES APPROVED: THE 1dINUTES of the regular session of June 4th, 1935, were read and approved as read. REPORTS OF OFFICERS. CITY CLERK: The City Clerk submitted the followi;}g reports: Weppner Hospital Expense. That a card had been received from:•the D'epartmant of Labor and Industries, advising that $108.00 had been paid to Maynard Hospital, Seattle, account Roy S. Weppner. Insurance Warrants Issued: That Warrants had been issued to Otto A. Case, State Treas- urer, for May Industrial Insurance, as follows: 1247 - Current Expense Fund $ 6.00 6670 - Olympic gravity Water Fund 5.76 Water Business Tax, Bi-monthly. That the Business Tax on total water receipts were now payable bi-monthly instead of monthly. Water Supt. Monthly Report. The report of the Yleter Supt, for the month of May, 1935 was presented, read, and referred to the Water Committee. Main Line Meter headings. The report of the Water Supt.,.showing the flow of water through the main line meters for the period ending June 18, 1935, was presented, read, and ordered filed. Treasurer's Monthly Report. The report of the City Treasurer for the month of May, 1935, was presented, read, and referred to to the Finance Committee. BUILDING PERMITS. Applications for Building Permlta were presented, read and disposed of, as follows: From F. R. W. Stevens, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., June 10, 1935. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash. Gentlemen:- Permission is requested to erect a woodshed on my property at 745 Taylor Shree , at an estimated coat of $15.00 for material. Respectfully submitted, F. R. W. Stevens. From Ella M. Brown, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., June 10, 1935. To the Honorable Mavor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash.
