COMMUNICATIONS.
Weppner award.
The City Clerk reported receipt of a card from the Denartment of Labor and In-
dustries, advising that upon a rehearing of the claim of Roy S. Pieppner, an award of $385. C
had been made to him for loss of time. Communication was ordered filed.
Gamewell Company.
The City Clerk also reported receipt of a communication from The p,amewell Com-
pany, offering their services in securing funds for the improvement of the Fire Alarm and
Police signal systems in the event of Congress appropriating further sums for Public Works
projects. The Clerk stated that he had replied to the letter to the effect that the city
had no funds available for materials and that any such work would of necessity, be wholly
financed from Federal funds. Communication ordered filed.
BUILDING PERMITS.
From McCurdy and Bailey.
Application for Building Permit was presented and read, as
follows:
Port Townsend, Plash., January loth, 1935.
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council,
Port Tavnsend, Wash.
Gentlemen:
Permission is requested to erect a frame, double garage on the Dennis Building
property, in the rear of the Port Townsend Dry Goods Co. store. Dimensions to be 15 x 20
feet and the cost is estimated at $90.00.

It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said
permit be granted. Motion declared carried.
REQUISITIONS.
Water Department.
The City Plater Department presented a requisition for the follow-
ing supplies:
1 filing case of steel, and cards for taps. 500 second sheets.
It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said
requisition be granted. Motion declared carried.
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS.
Resolution Re: Gasoline Funds:
Relative to the effort of the Association of Washing
ton Cities to secure a portion of the State Gasoline Tax Funds for expenditure on upkeep
of city streets, the City Attorney, at the request of the City Clerk, prepared the follow_
ing resolution, which was presented and road by the City Clerk, to -wit:
RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, it a -•pears to the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, that legialatio
enacted by the legislature of the State of Washington, during the year 1933, insofar as
pertains to the apportionment of gas tax monies to cities and towns has lapsed, and
Y,1iEREAS, unless new legislation is enacted cities and towns will be deprived of an
appreciable source of revenue,
THEREFORE, be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, that it
is the sense of this Council that the 1935 Legislature of the State of Washington, now in
session assembled, enact such appropriate legislation as to enable cities and towns to re-
ceive a portion of gas tax revenues to enable them to properly maintain the streets of the
cities and towns in this state.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution be mailed to the lion. J. D. Ben
ston, State Senator, 24th Senatorial District, State Senate, Olympia, Washington; and to t
the Hon. George N. Adams, Hon. Nelson B. Neff and lion. U. S. Ford, Representatives of the
24th Legislative District, House of hepresentatives, Olp+mpia, Washington.
It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Lammers that the dald
resolution be adopted. Upon Roll Call, all seven Councilmen voted in the affirmative
and motion was declared carried. Said resolution was approved by the Mayor this date.
UNFINISHED AND NEV BUSINESS.
Gasoline Bids.
Pursuant to publication calling for bids, proposals to furnish the
j city with gasoline were now opened and read, the bids submitted being as follows:

TE was moved by Councilman Sather and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the Council
recess for 15 minutes. Motion carried and recess declared.
Reconvened and Roll Call.
The Council reconvened at 10:30 o'clock p.m., and upon Rol]
Call there were present Mayor George Bangerter, City Attorney W. J. Daly, City Clerk C. F.
Christian, and Councilmen McGee, Naughton, De Leo, Lafferty, Lammers, Sather and Hirtzler.
RICHFIELD GASOLINE BID ACCEPTED.
It was moved by Councilman Hirtzler and seconded by Councilman Lammers that the pro-
posal of the Richfield Oil Company to furnish the city with gasoline for the ensiung year
be accepted. Upon Roll Call vote, Councilman McGee was excused from voting while all of -
the other six councilmen voted in the affirmative and motion.was declared married.
Airport Condemnation not to be contested.
It was moved by Councilman Naughton and seconded by Councilman Lammers that should th
Board of County Commissioners for Jefferson County, Washington, under the power of eminent
domain, proceed to acquire certain designated lots and blocks in that certain portion of
the City of Port Townsend commonly known as the "swamp area" and other contiguous property
for an airport under the Provisions of Sec. 905-1, Remingtoncs Compiled Statutes, then and
in that event, the City Council will not contest condemnation proceedings affecting such
real estate or dedicated streets enumerated therein.
Upon Roll Call Vote, Councilmen IlicGee, Naughton, Lafferty, Lammers and Hirtzler voted
in the affirmative, Councilman Sather voted in the negative, and Councilman DeLeo was ex-
cused from voting. Motion declared carried.
STREET GRADER PLANS TO BE DRAWN AND BIDS CALLED FOR.
It was moved by Councilman Sather and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the Street
Committee and the City Attorney prepare plans and specifications for the purchase of a
Street drader and that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for such grader,
bids to be opened at the first regular session of the City Council in March, 1935.
Upon Roll Call vote, all seven Councilmen voted in the affirmative and motion was de-
clared carried.

It was moved by Councilmen Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Hertzler that the said
resolution be adopted. Upon Roll Call vote, all seven Councilmen voted in the affirmative,
and motion was declared carried.
