COMMUNICATIONS. From Jefferson County Treasurer. A communication from R. J. Kenney, Treasurer of Jef- ferson County, relative to funds from the State, was presented and read, as follows: Port Townsend, Washington, Dec.19,1934. To the Honorableu+ayor and City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington. Gentlemen: Pursuant to the provisions of Section 5 of Chapter 41, Session Laws of 1933, as amended by Chapter 168, Session Laws of 1933, I transmit herewith my check in the amount $1025.69, being 1/10 of 1I of the assessed valuation of the City of Port Townsend for the year 1933. Please note that under date of larch 20, 1934, thock in the same amount was trans mitted to you for the same purpose, and that all payments due the city for current year un- der Acts in question have now been paid. Your attention is further invited to the fact that we have made monthly remittan- ces of all amounts due the city under the old Road and bridge levies existing prior to tax year of 1933. This has nottbeen the paractice in all Counties and, consequently, there has been some litigation on that point. You are further notified thnt this office will Make no further remittances under laws quoted in first paragraph hereof until such time as the coming session of the legisla- ture mny adopt some permanent policy regarding such matters. We manifestly cannot make re mittance uvt:il at least such time as we may know that money to cover same will be forthcom- ingfrom the State and, as ,you are of course aware, the present legislation under which thes payments gave been made is only temporary and expires shortly. Gentlemen: - Application is hereby made for a renewal of the lease we have had for the past your, For that part of 7th St. between the southeasterly line of the Olympic Highway and tic westerly line of Jackman St., and that part of Jackman St. between the southerly line of tt Olympic Highway and the southerly end of Jackman St. (Abutting upon unplatted property) Payment of One Dollar has barn made to the City Treasurer for the rental. Gentlemen:- Permission is requested to build a small addition, for a pantry, to my dwellin house at 929 Madison St., at an estimated cost of $12.00 for materials. Respectfully submitted, Ephriam Honeyman. It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman McGee that the said per- mits be granted. Motion declared carried. REQUISITIONS. Requisitions for supplies for various departments of the city, were presented, read, a disposed of as follows: For the Police Department, to -wit: 2 gals, paint for sidewalk parking strips. Also, for: (1 Chief of Police Badge For the Water "epartment, to -wit: (2 sets of buttons and collar badge (2 caps Case of Lersey Meters, 5/8 x 3/4, to read gallons. (2 "Sam Brown" belts 125 meter cards (for recording meter) (2 hand cuff cases (2 holsters. For the City Clerk's Office, to -wit: 1 typewriter ribbon, 300 dog license blanks 1 doz. oath of Jffice forms 50, 1F postage stamps 500 current expense fund blanks . It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Lammers that the said requisitions be granted. Upon roll call vote, all six councilmen present voted in the of firmative and motion was declared carried. Requisition for Park Department, Requisition for the Park Department was presented separately, for the following equipment and supplies, to -wit: Furnishing and installing all material and labor in order to make ❑ complete plumbing job in the caretaker•''s cottage at the City Park, except labor for trenching. Said materia: to include bath, lavatory and toilet. All for the estimated sum of $159.00. It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and .seconded by Councilmnn Lammers, That the said requisition be granted, subject to securing the best rate for the work and equipment. Motion declared carried. Thanks extended to American Legion. It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded b; Councilman McGee that the thanks of the Council be extended to the American Legion of this city for their successfull efforts in raising funds for the park. Motion declared carried. ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS. Depository of Public Funds. To fu1J.'i1 the requirements of State Larva, the following resolution, prepared by the City Attorney, was submitted and read, to -wit: RESOLUTION. BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that the First America Bunk of Port Townsend, Port Townsend; Washington, be and the same is hereby designated as the depository For the public funds of the City of Port Townsend; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that ❑ copy of this resolution be transmitted to the City Tree ur•er. It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Hirtzler that the said resolution be adopted. Upon roll cull vote, all six councilmen present voted in the af- firmative and motion was declared carried. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS. Gasoline Proposals. The City Clerk stated to the Council that the Union Oil Company and the Associated Oil Company had each presented an,unsesl6d proposal to furnish the city with gasoline, for the coming year, nt a guaranteed maximum rate of not more than 16 cents per gallon, and exhibited the proposals to the Council.
