The Minutes of the regular session of January 1st', 1935, were read and approved as read. Councilman Tony DeLeo arrived at this time and took his seat in the Council. BILLS AND CLAIMS. Layman 39.60 Total ............................. 68.28 It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Lammers that the said claims be allowed, and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to draw warrants upon the proper funds in payr..ent of some. Upon Roll Call, all sir. Councilmen present voted in the afirmative and notion was declared carried. J. J. Smith claim allowed. The claim of J. J. Smith for refund of the License Fee pair for Electric "Bring License fee for the year beginning June, 1928, (on the grounds that the city Police Justice had later declared the "rdinance void), was taken up separately and it was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Lammers that the said claim be a_lo•sed and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to draw a warrant upon the Cur- rent Expense Fund in the payment of same, a provision of the motion being that the warrant The endorsed over to the city to 9pply on the payee's water a -:count. Appointments; Mayor Bangerter announced to the City Council that he had made the fol- lowing appointments as officers and employees of the city, to -wit: Albert R. Larsen, as Night Patrolman Rollie Stahl, as Street Sapai-Intendent F. D. Smith, as Truck Driver, Street Dept. Dr. F. J. Delaney, as Health Officer. The Mayor Stated that other appointments would be made later. Park Board Confirmed. Relative to the appointment of members of the Park Board, ap- pointed at the previous session of the council, it was moved by Councilman Lafferty and sec ended by Councilman Lammers that the said appointments be confirmed. Motion declared carrie . CITY CLERK. Olympia "1rlp, Re. Defaulted Bonds. Reporting for both the City Attorney and the City Clerk, City Clerk Christian stated to the Council that a trip had been made to Olympia and a conference had with the Secretary of the State Finance Committee, who advised that while the State had money on hand for investment, they would not consider the purchase of any se- curities where the recently passed Initiative No. 94 might affect the validity of of such securities until a Court decision could be had relative to the said Initiative No. 94. The Clerk further reported that a test suit was now being prepared by interested parties, to bring'these matters before the Court. It was recommended that no action be taken toward refunding the overdue bonds until the legal phases involved could be ironed out. December Salary Warrants Issued. December Work Report: The December work report of the Water Supt., was presented, read, and ordered filed. Main Line Meter Readings. The report of the Vlater Supt., showing the flow of water through the main line meters, for the period ending Dec. 3lat, was presented, read, and or- dered filed. STANDING COMMITTEES.
