Fowler, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., Nov. 2, 1934 Co the Honorable Mayor and city Council, Port Townsend, Wash., lentlemen:- permission is requested to erect a frame woodshed, 8 x 12 feet in size, on Bloc 3 off Laurel Shedd Addition, at an estimated cost of $5.00 for materials. Councilman Sather stated that complaint had been made as to the construction of other buildings erected by the applicant and requested that the application be referred to the Building Committee for investigation. Ames (by Dave Brown) requesting;-permisaion to wreck a building, was presented and read, as follows: Port Townsend, Washington, Nov. 5, 1934. To the Honorable i+ayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash. Gentlemen:- Permission is requested to wreck the frame building on Quincy Street; being on the northerly half of Lot 7, Block 43, Original Townsite; the asid building having been partially wrexked by the high wind on the 21st day of October. All debris will be disposed of in accordance with City Ordinance and a deposit of $5.00 will be made to insure same. H. A. Ames, By Dave Brown. It was moved by Councilman Sather and seconded by Councilman Smith that the said per- mit be granted provided the required deposit be made. Motion declared carried. COMMUNICATIONS. From W. J. Daly, re: painting City Hall. A communication from City Attorney Daly, presenting the plans and estimates of the City Planning Board for painting and renovating the outside of the City Hall building, was submitted and read, as follows: Port Townsend, Wash., Nov,., 6, 1934 Hon. Mayor and City Council, City of Fort Townsend. Gentlemen: I have today filed with the City Clerk, plans and itemization of costa pertain- ing to the proposed WERA project, namely, the painting and renovating of the City Hall. This work was performed by yr. John C. Phillips, of the City Planning Board, as his letter indicates. I showed the whole file to Mr. Sadler and he informs me that everything is in order and that as soon as he received the same from you he will itmnediately proceed to break down the costs. When the matter is finished by L:r. Sadler, it will be necessary that the Council pass the identical resolution that was passed in the water project set- ting forth that the city will aid the project and furnish the material. Another matter that +dr. Sadler discudsed with me was the question of this Coun- cil furnishing him with a communication that the City stands ready at all times to furnish material and tools in any flood emergency, providing the WERA furnished the labor. Phillips, and the Plan and Estimate of the City Planning Board, presented through City Attorney Daly, was now taken up and read in full, as follows, to -wit: The Letter: Port Townsend, Wash., Nov. 5, 1934. To the Honorable Mayor and Members of the City Council. Gentlemen: There is enclosed herewith five copies od plan and estimate for painting the City Hall. Estimate for painting was prepared by I.I. H. Pray. Estimates for repair work were preoared by the following: Cement work, Yr. Calkins. Carpenter work, R. A. Hamilton, Sheet metal cornices, J. 'Nith. Respectfully submitted, John C. Phillips Member of City Planning Board OlL 6211 Minutes of Regular Session of November 6/34 continued. The Plan and Estimate: PAINTING CITY HALL, PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON. The proposed work consists of painting the south and west fronts of the building and window trim and sheet metal work on east side of building but no work to roof. Painting is to be two coat work. It is also proposed to make all minor repairs deemed necessary to the surfaces to be painted. Work to be done from a swing staging of which two are to be hired. Work is as follows: Make minor repairs and place weather strips on doors and windows. Fill with cement mortar all open joints in brickwork of the upper half of building; lower half has been done. Clean all stone with a power wire brush. Repair all sheet metal work. Remove all paint and rust from sheet metal work with a power wire brush. Areas are as follows: Pointing brickwork 3000 sq.ft. Cleaning stone 1200 sq.ft. Painting brickwork 6900 do Painting sheet metal 1200 do Painting fire hall Varnish front and side entrance and window trim 3000 do entrances 500 do Paint plaster in side entrance 200 do Material. Sadler, be furnished with a communication to the effect that the city will furnish the necessary material for emergency flood control (if any) if the �- WERA will furnish the labor. It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Coun- J cilman Sather that said recommendation be put into effect. Motion declared carried.
