Water Bills of Olympic Pile Driving Co. Councilman Smith brought up the matter of un- paid water bills of the Olympic Pile Driving Co., stating that it was his recollection that the Council had gone on record to the effect that the said 06inpaci3 should hot be furnished any further water until the said account had been satisfactorily settled, but that it ap- pears that the Company had been furnished with water for the Taylor Street bulkhead job, the Hastings new building job and were now being furnished water for their quarantine Sta- tion job, and he asked for information as to the status of the case. Water Supt. Green stated that the said Company had paid for water for the Taylor Street job and that a bill had been prepared for the Hastings building job and would be presented to the Company, but that the Company had refused to pay the bill as rendered for the Port C61nmission job on thl j plea that a considerable part of the water charged to them had been wasted through a bro- ken pipe for which they denied responsibility. Councilman Smith further stated that it was common rumor that Mr. Cotton or the Pile Driving Company',hhd:ltaken several scow loads of water from the city system for delivery to vessels lying in the bay and that no return had been made to the city for same. A general discussion followed relative to all delin• quent water bills, the concensus of opinion apppearing to be that a determined effort be made to collect delinquent accounts. Settlement authorized. Councilman Smith recalled that Harry Cotton had offered to pay for the boat haven job on a basis of an estimate of the water actually used for the work and it was moved by Councilman Welch and seconded by Councilman Smith that the Water Supt. be authorized to settle the said account on the above basis, the understanding being that the amount would be about thirty-six or thirty-seven dollars.
