Treasurer's Report for month of May, 1934, would respectfully report as follows: find

Water and Drainage, on Water Supt.'s Report.

To the Honorable mayor and City Council
of the City of Port Townsend.
Gentlemen: -
Your Corunittee, on Water and Drainage, to whom was referred the matter of
Water Supt, report for the month of May, 1934, would respectfully report as follows: Find
same to agree with office records.

Snow Creek Pipe Report.
Councilman Lammers, Chairman of the Committee on Water and
Drainage, made a verbal report on the condition of the the iron pipe on the old Snow Creek
line, to the effect that the said Committee, together with Water Supt. Green and Mr. Leon
Olberg had made a trip to Snow Creek, had inspected the pipe, including cutting off and
cutting open a short section of the pipe and that in his opinion the pipe was well worth
salvaging and re-laying. Councilmen Lafferty, McGee and Smith all expressed the same
opinion, Councilman Smith further stating that in his belief, it would outlast new wood
pipe.
Re: Ythetsel Anplication.
Relative to the application of James Whetsel for purchase
of city property on Hastings Ave., contingent upon the vacation of one block of Wilson Ave
Councilmen Lafferty and Smith of the Street Committee, both stated that they were opposed
to vacation of city streets, and were, therefore, not in favor of granting the application
of �,r. Who tsel. The Council took no further action in the matter.
BUILDING PERMITS.
Applications for Building Permits were presented, read, and disposed of as follows:

Mr. Compton to
repair and make safe for public traffic, the sidewalk, running East and Ylest on Adams St.
We, the Glendale Dairy, make application for permission to proceed with this work at
once.

Lacking details of type of sidewalk to be constructed, it was moved by Councilman Laf-
ferty and seconded by Councilman Smith that the application, in its present form, be not
granted. Motion declared carried.

Re: Woman+s Benefit Association.
For the information of the Council, the City Clark read
copies of correspondence between the Woman s uenefit Association of Port Huron, Mich., hol-
ders of defaulted General Obligation bonds of the city, and certain bond brokers, in which
k,t sr? the Association expressed confidence in the city+s integrity and ability to take care of
+ ' its obligations. In a letter to the City Clerk, the Association praised the officials of
city on the attitude shown in taking care of their interests. Letters orderod filed.

The City Clerk reported having received a let-
ter from Wr. E. R. Hoffman, State Engineer for Federal Emergency Administration, acknowled-
ging receipt of supplementary data relative to the City+s application for a grant in aid f6
Water Works betterments.
w , Re: Weppner Hearing:
The City Clerk further reported receipt of copy of notice of
re -hearing of claim of R.'S. Weppner vs Department of Labor and Industries, the hearing to
be held at 9 A.M Jul 14th at the Count Count House, and advising the city that it may

'�' ,• represented if it is so desired. The matter was referred to the City Attorney.

Clerk leave of absence: The City Clerk asked for a 3-day leave of absence, July 19-20
and 21, at no expense to the city, and upon motion of Councilman Lafferty, seconded by Coun

the Council voted to adjourn.
