Upon Roil Call there mere present City Attorney Wm. J. Daly, City Clerk
C. F. Christian, and Councilmen W S. Laff9rty, Wm. Lammers,Sr., Sam McGee and Al. B. Smith

Fred E. Stuck Water Service.
At this time Mr. Fred Stuck was given permission to bri:
up the matter of inadequate water service to his home premises; the situation appearing to
be that Mr. Stuck had given another patron permission to tap into the line serving Stuck's
residence with a consequent reduction in pressurewhen both premises were attempting to
draw water at the same time. Mr. Stuck was advised, after some discussion, that the cit;
had no ;Jurisdiction in'.t:ba matter and that it was a question of personal agreement between
he and Mr. Grotewald. A suggestion was made for a satisfactory settlement and the matte:
was referred to the '14ater ^uperintendent to render such assistance as would enable these
patrons to arrive at a sutisfactox7 solution df the question.

The minutes of the regular session of June 5 1934, were read and
approved as read. Councilman Sather arrived and took his seat Smmealately following the
reading of the minutes.

cilman Smith that the city accept Yr. Olberg s offer and motion was declared carried. The
Mayor stated that the matter of making these tests would be left in the hands of the Water
Committee and the Water Superintendent, with an invitation to all the Councilman to view th
pipe if they so desired.
BUILDING PERMITS.
Applications for Building Permits were presented, read, and disposed of as follows:

In compliance with Chapter 158, Laws of 1923, we beg to advise the amount necessary
to include in the budget for examination of the GENERAL ACCOUNTS of your city for the year
1935 will be approximately $200.00.
The foregoing amount should be included in your budget and you are kindly requested
to make provision for same.

From Chamber of Commerce on Fort Worden Road.
Acommunication from the Port Townsend
Chamber of Commerce, with copy of report adopted, was presented and read.as follows:

Port Townsend, Washington.
Gentlemen:
Please find enclosed copy of report made by a special committee appointed to sub
mit recommendations on a route for the proposed surfacing of a road from the State Road on
Water Street to Fort ':orden.
The committee consisted of Messrs Geo. Welch; N. A. Klasell and Tony DeLeo. The
Chamber has approved this proposed route and on motion the matter is being presented to
your body for suggestions or comments. We might add that State Highway Engineers are ex-
pected ti visit here for the purpose of inspecting routes and approving a plan if found
feasible.
We shall appreciate hearing from your body on this matter.

Your Committee, appointed to make a recommendation on road route from the State High-
way to the military post at Fort Worden, recommend that the route be continued from the
end of the State road,as recently completed, on Monroe Street to Lawrence Street, westerly
on Lawrence Street to Benton Street, northwesterly on Benton Street to Fir Street, norther,
on Fir Street to U Street, westerly on U Street to Cherry Street, northerly on Cherry St.
to the present entrance on the military post, it being understood that some plan may be
evolved for a better entrance to the military reservation beginning somewhere near the in-
tersection of Fir and U Streets.

Upon being given permission to address the Council on the foregoing matter, Mr. E. M.
Starrett urged the Council to make an early decisionfas to the route the Council would fa-
vor for a hard -surfaced road to Fort Worden, as the State Highway Engineers were expected
to visit the city very soon to loot: over the situation and select streets for the said rou'
and haste was necessary if the City is to secure this apportionment of available funds.
After informal consideration of possible routes to Fort 71orden, it was moved by Coun-
Oilman McGee and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the Council recommend and adopt the
route recommended by the Chamber of Commerce. Motion declared carried.
