The City Clerk reported receipt of a card from the Stat Department of Labor and Industries, showing that certain sums had been allowed from the State Insunanee fund account expenses and surgical aid for Patrolman Geo. Relative to certain fixtures for the caretakers cottage at the City Park, Councilman Aubert reported that neither Jones & Crouten nor Norby Plumb- r ing & Heating Co., could handle the matter on a deferred payment basis and that the Olympi Hardware & Furniture Co. would submit estimates later, and that under these circumstances, they thought it advisable to turn the whole matter over to the Park Board. Communication from James Whetsel, relative to pur- chasing city lot, was presented and read as follows, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., June 4th, 1934. City Clerk, Port Townsend, Wash. Dear Sir: - This letter is for the purpose of submitting my bid of $20.00 for a conveyance of the Lots in Block 15 of Johnstons Addition to Port Townsend, Jefferson County, Washing- Yf ton, excepting therefrom that portion of said Block occupied by Hastings Avenue. This offer is made with the understanding that Iumay subsequently secure from the w,- City of Port Townsend, Washington, an Order or Resolution vacating that portion of Wilson Avenue (now 28th Street) in said city, lying between Katherine and Thomas Streets. Communication from the General Attorney of the Woodmen of the 7world, relative to refunding defaulted General Obligation Bonds, was i presented and read, as follows, to -wit: 1 Denver, Colorado, May 25, 1934. Mr. C. F. Christian, City Clerk, .r. Port Townsend, Wash. Re: Port Townsend, Washington, Refunding Banda, due July 1, 1931. �1.,. Dear Sir:- y nead Managers B quarterly I was instructed b our Board of gars at its recent regular uerterl meeting to inform you that the Board will consider the acceptance of refunding bonds for T,r the bonds owned and held by the Association and now in default, upon condition that new bonds will be at the same rate of interest, payable semi-annually and that there will be a' no loss in interest, but merely an extension of time of payment of principal. The Board cannot consider the purchase of the entire proposed refunding issue. A further condition 1 precedent to such a proposed exchange, in event refunding bonds are issued, is that such bonds and the legal proceedings under which they are issued, would be subject to my of€i- cial approval, and also that an approving opinion by some recognized bond attorney would accompany transcript of proceedings,and in the event of making the exchange, proper certif: bonds would be furnished the Cates showing the cancellation or destruction of the refunded in due coprse of business. I call your attention to these matters for your Association guidance in the proposed issuance of refunding bonds. Please advise me at an early date of your further purposes and steps in this con r nection in view of the contents of this letter. Yours very truly, John L. Schweigert, General Attorney. The City Clerk stated that he had replied to the foregoing letter to the effect that it would be presented to the City Council at its next regular session and that the Attorne the Clerk were working on plans for refunding the bonds.
