Minutes of regular s - The following is a full, true, and correct cmpy of said ordinance as Passed by the City Council May 22nd, 1934; approved by the Mayor May 23rd, 1934, and pub- lished in the Port Townsend Leader May 24, 1934, to -wit: ORDINANCE NO. 1040. AN ORDINANCE of the City of Port Tonnsend providing for the appropriation and expen- diture of money from the Current Expense Fund for the street department of said city and declaring an emergency. WHEREAS, at the time of the preparation and adoption of the official budget of the City of Port Townsend for the year 1934, the magnitude and extent of work necessary to be performed by said city upon that portion of State Road No. 9, within the territorial limit of said city, could not have been contemplated, and, WHEREAS, there is insufficient money budgeted in the street department to take care o the demands of the State Highway Department as to the improvement and maintenance of said highway, THEREFORE, The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, do ordain as follows: Section 1. That an emergency is hereby declared and that there is hereby appropriate for the street department of. the City of Port Townsend for the year 1934 the sum of $1250. which appropriation shall be divided into the following classes: Salaries and Wages, labor $750.00; Repairs and replacements, $500.00. Section 2. That the City Clerk of the City of Port Townsend be and he is hereby au- thorized to issue emergency warrants upon the current expense fund of said city, chargeabl to the street department, upon properly approved vouchers not exceeding the said sum of $1250.00. Section 3. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend Leader and to be enforced and take effect as provided by law. Passed by the City Council this 22nd day of May, 1934. Christian made verbal request for three days' leave of absence to take advantage of an opportunity to visit the city of Walla Walls at a lour cost, and stating that he would furnish a deputy for the three days at no cost to the city. It was moved by Councilman Welch and seconded by Counciman Sather that the said leave of absence be granted. Motion declared carried., ADJOURNMENT: Council voted to adjourn. The claim of Edwin Ingraham in the amount of $8.80 for labor and mater i ials furnished to put a bridge over the dltchrby his property at Taylor and Garfield Sts., was first referred to the Street Committee and after some discussion, it was moved by Coun- cilman Welch and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said claim be allowed.
