Paddock Caretaker 60.48 Deed from Amy Sims -Martin -Smith, at vir: The City Clerk reported receipt of a dead running from Amy Sims -Martin -Smith, at vir, to the City of Port Townsend, to a small pares of land for street purposes, which had been secured from them by the U.S. War Department. It was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said deed be accepted and that it be duly recorded in the County records. Motion declared carried. Mayor Bangerter arrives. Mayor George Bangerter arrived at this time and thereafter presided. Treasurerfs Reports for the months of January and February were presented and read and were an ra errs o the Finance Committee. Chief of Police. The report of the Chief of Police for the Month of Mnrdh, 1934, we presented, read, and ordered placed on file. Water Supt. Hydrant Report: The Water Superintendent submitted the following report relative to Fire Hydrants: Port Townsend, Wash., April 3, 1934. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash. Gentlemen: - This is to report that all Fire Hydrants have been tested and have found them all in good working order. Respectfully submitted, Ben Green, Water Supt. Said report was ordered filed. Water Supt. Work Report: The work report of the Water Superintendent for the period from March 7th to April 3rd, Inc., was presented, read, and ordered placed on file. Councilman Smith arrives. At this time Councilman W. B. Smith arrived and took his seat in the Council. Main Line Meter Reports: The reports of the Water Superintendent of the flow of wa- ter through the main line meters for the period ending April 3rd, were presented, read, art ordered filed. Street Supt. Work Report: The work report of the Street Superintendent, covering the month of March, 1934, was presented, read, and ordered filed. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. Water and Drainage, on Water Supt. Feby Report. The Co:mnittae on Water and Drainage submitted the following report: Port Townsend, Washington, April 3rd, 1934. Finance and Claims, on Treasurerts December report. The Committee on Finance and i Claims submitted the following written report: Port Townsend, Wash., April 3, 1934. Gentlemen: Your Committee, on Finance and Claims, to whom was referred the matter of Cit Treasurer's report for the month Of December, 1933, would respectfully report as follows: We find same to agree with office records. -; Wm. A communication relative to renewal of insurance on the Mack Fire Engine, was presented and bead, as follows: Seattle, Wash., March 29th, 1934. City Clerk, Port Townsend, Washington. Dear Sir: - The insurance policy covering the pumper which you have on contract with us will expire on April 17, 1934. ?' It was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman Smith that the said fire apparatus be insured for fire in the sum of $2 00.00 and for collision as covered at prea- ant and that the insurance be placed with the Igencyy now carrying the insurance. Motion declared carried. Re: Defaulted Bonds. Communications relative to 1931, 5j% General Obligation Bonds, now in default as to principal, were presented and read, as follows: From Woodmen of the World, to -wit: t, Denver, Colorado, March 28, 1934. Christian, City Clerk, Port Tpinsend, Washington. .; RE: Port Townsend, Washington, Refunding Bonds, Dated July 1/1 -` Dear Sir: - Kindly advise what .progress has ban made and what action has been taken or is contemplated towards curing the default in the payment of $20,000 of the above described bonds held by thisaasociation which matured Ju y 1, 1931. From Fred Glenn & Company, to -wit: ortland, Oregon, March 28, 1934. +' City Clerk, Port Townsend, Wash. t Dear Sir: - We note that you have outstanding so a bonds being 5j' s due in 1931, which are delinquent in the principal payment. There is quite an interest in municipal bonds at this time and it is possible that we could arrange to refund your bonds on aome basis that would be satisfactory to you, and the City Council. Please drop us a line as to whether this uggestion to get your finances in shape, is an item of interest and state the amount of bo ds that are not delinquent. The City Clerk stated that he had replied to these inquiries to the effect that these communications would be placed before the City Council and that they would be advised of any action taken in the matter. Also that he had suggested,to the Woodmen of the World that they consider the purchase of refunding bonds to take up the old issue. After some �'. discussion, the matter was referred to the Finance Committee, the City Attorney and the e City Clerk for investigation and report.
