HomeMy WebLinkAbout00272 minutes. 3u 532 UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS Bids for Gasoline: Pursuant to order the Council and notice duly published, Bide are now opened for furnishing the City with Gasoline and Oils for the ensuing year. Bids were submitted by the Standard oil Company, the Union 011 Company, and the Shell oil Compan , all bids being based on the tank Wagon price at the time of delivery. After a short con- sideration of the bids it was moved by Councilman McGee and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that all bids be rejected and that the City buy in the open market. Upon Roll Call all six Councilmen present voted in the affirmative, motion was declared carried. Rotation in Delivery: It was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman Townsend that pprders for Gasoline and Oil to be used by the City be divided equally be- tween the fouzVesident Wholesale.Companies in the following rotation, Richfield Oil Company, The Shell Oil Company, The Union Oil Company, and the Standard Oil Company, in the order named, and that Mr. Seavey, care taker, is to notify each company of the beginning and termination of the period of such delivery. Upon Roll Call all six Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Irondale-Hadlock Line: Mr. Smith of the Golden Pine Distilling Company, being granted permission to speak, addressed the council on the subject ofconstrgetion of new pipe line to Hadlock and Irondnlo, but was advised by the Council that the City was obliged to con- sider 96veral�ha1,drprobloms:1 before definite action could be taken. Conference to be Arranged: - It was then moved by Councilman Townsend, and seconded by Councilman Aubert that arrangements be made for a Conference between the aforesaid Committees and the Depty City Attorney on be -half of the City and Air. Smith, and/orl other parties representing the Golden Pine Distilling Company. Motion declared carried. ADJOURNMENT Upon motion of Councilman Townsend, seconded by Councilman Miller, Council adjourned. Christian, and Councilmen Geo. F. Townsend, W. B. Smith, '11. S. Lafferty, Wm. Lammers, Jacob Miller and C. P. Aubert, Councilman Sam McGee arriving during reading of the minutes. 3 MINUTES READ AND APPROVED. The minutes of the regular session of January 16th, were read and approved as read. v ,n REPORTS OF OFFICERS. ; Water for Golden Pine Distilling Co. •'' Deputy City Attorney W. J. Daly reported that h had met with Mr. Smith of the Golden Pine Distilling Co., and found that Air. Smith was not informed as to the financial set-up of the city and the city Water works. In relation to A. the proposed rebuilding of the Hadlock line, it was suggested that the Distilling Company build th9 line and that it be reimbursed for the outlay by applying the cost of water used y on the cash outlay by the company. Mr. Daly further informed Mr. Smith that with twenty- _ four hours notice, the committees of the City Council could get together fo• a conference E x> with the officers of the Company. Bringing up the matter of Truck Licenses, Councilman McGee voiced the opinion that fees could not be collected from trucks and stages running r� from city to country or vice versa, and Councilman Townsend then said that the Chief of Police had told him that such trucks would pay a reasonable license fee. Daly on Clerk's Inquiry: L ��-- Dep. City Atty Daly then read a letter from the City Clerk asking him for an interpretation of Ordinance No. 1036 relative to basis to be used to set �. the license fees on the several classifications of trucks, and he then stated that the in- tention was to base the feeeson the Manufacturers Rated Load Capacity and not on the weigh of the truck. #' To amend Ordinance. It was moved by Councilman Townsend and seconded by Councilman Aubert that Mh: Daly, Dep. City Attorney, prepare an amendment to said Ordinance No. 1036, to base the license fees for trucks on the rated load capacity, and further, that all who .,; had paid fees in excess of such basis shall have such excess refunded. Motion carried.
