Monthly report, Chief of Police.
The report of Chief of Police Compton for the month
of November, 1933, was presented, read and ordered filed.
Work Report, Water Supt.
The work report off the {Pater Supt, for the period from Nov.
22nd to Dec. 5th, inclusive, was presented, read and ordered filed.
Main Line Meter Readings.
The reports of the Water Supt. of the flow of water througt
the main line meters for the period ending Dec. 5th, were presented, read and ordered file(
Engineerts Report on Matheson Joint Pipe.
'City Engineer Sadler submitted the followit
report on the proposed laying of the Matheson Joint Pipe on Sheridan Street, Hastings Ave.;
and Discovery Road, to -wit:
To the Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash., December 5, 1933
Gentlemen: -
I herewith submit plan and detail of the proposed 12" and 14" Matheson Joint
pipe line for Sheridan St, from 19th St. to Hastings Ave.; Hastings Ave. from Sheridan St.
to Discovery Road, and Discovery Road to San Juan Ave. One 14" valve and Two 12" valves
can be furnished by the Water Department. These valves were salvaged from replacements
made in 1932. Taps can be changed over by Water Department. Estimate is attached to
this sheet. Plan and Detail should be adopted and approved by Mayor and City Council.
I understand from Mr. Townsend that a blue print of this work must be furnished the CWA.

Note:- The first item of welding pipe and fittings includes cutting all pipe out on
the old Snow Creek line and in the city; also making and welding all fittings for the new
line.
Adppted:
It was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that
the said estimate and Plans and Specifications be approved and adopted. Upon Roll Call,
all six councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.
CWA Work.
Councilman Townsend reported that he had five of the Civil Works crew at
work on the Irondale-Hadlock pipe line, cutting out brush and other obstructions and when
completed, it would be possible to go over the right-of-way with a team.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.
On Moving Street Light.
Councilman Aubert reported verbally that he had persobally
taken up with Mr. Marriott, the matter of moving the Street light at the intersection of
Monroe and Roosevelt Streets and had ascertained that the terms of the lighting contract
irequired the city to pay the expense of moving a light after it had been once installed.

Re: Street light continued:
The City Clerk reported receipt of a communication from
Mr. Marriott on the same matter and the said communication was presented and read,as follows:

To the Honorable Mayor, and
Members of the City Council,
Port Townsend, Wash.
Gentlemen: -
In regard to a letter received from the City Clerk November 20th, 1933 in regar
to moving a street light at the corner of Monroe and Roosevelt Street, we will be very glad
to move this light for you and bill you with the expense as per the last contract for street
lighting entered into by the City of Port Townsend, and the Company dated October 18th,1932.
In the thrid paragraph under the heading "Fourth:- Lamp Installations:- Lamps one
installed shall not be abandoned during the life of this contract but the Company shall at
the expense of the city change the location of any lamp whenever directed by the city, and
the size of the lamps may be changed by the city from time to time by notifying the Compan
in writing."
We will be very glad to move this light as per the terms of the contract as soon
as we receive the letter of instructions to do do.

Councilman Aubert stated that Mr. Marriott had given him an estimate off $7.50 as the'
cost of moving the light.
Clingan Buildings.
Councilman Aubert stated that some person had asked for an oppor-
tunity to get the buildings on the Clingan property of the city ordered that they be remove
Gasoline Storage.
Councilman McGee inquired about the status of the proposed Gasoline
Storage Ordinance relative to storage in private garages.
New Liquor Ordinance.
Councilman Townsend asked what was to be done in regard to li-
censing the sale of liquor of more than 3.2 per cent alcoholic content.
No action was taken on any of the said propositions.

Cement Walks.
Councilman Aubert asked if property owners could secure cement sidewalk
under the CWA plan and Councilman Townsend replied that at present, projects of more genera
benefit would be considered first, and if it was necessary later to take up cement sidewalk
work to keep the men at work, it would be considered. Councilman Aubert also mentioned th
construction of comfort stations but it appeared that there was no money available to pur-
chase materials.
Finance Committee:
Committee on Finance and Claims presented the following report:

Your Committe, on Finance and Claims to whom was referred the matter of Treas-
urer's report for month of October, 1933, would respectfully report as follows: We find

BUILDING PERMITS.

Permission is requested to erect a frame garage, about 12t x 181 on unplatted
property in the old Yap Suey Addition, South of Laurel Shade Add., at an estimated cost of
$10.00 for materials.
