Minutes of regular session of Oct. 17/33 continued.
New Business Continued.
Remove Rails and Track:
Mr. E. M. Starrett advised the Council that he had received
ward that the contract was to be let for hard -surfacing Water Street and that the Highway
"apartment requested that the railroad track between Taylor and Tyler Streets be removed
at an early date. It was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman Townsend
that the City Clerk be directed to so notifg the Port Townsend Southern hailroad Co.
Motion declared carried.
Re: Quarantine Station Construction.
Mr. Starrett also presented the status of the
proposed quarantine building construction to the effect that it was rumored that the Di-
rector of the Budget had learned of the existence of the old Marine Hospital building at
this place and that this building might be used for a detention station instead of erect-
ing new,buildings, and Mr. Starrett asked that the Council go on record as opposing such
procedure if contemplated.
It was then moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman McGee that the Coun
oil go on record as opposed to the use of the old Marine Hospital building as a detention
station for quarantine cases. Motion declared carried.
Resolution of protest:
It was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman
Lammers that a committee of the Council and the Health Officer be empowered and instructed
to draw up a resolution of protest covering the proposed use of the Marine Hospital build-
ing for such uses. Motion declared carried.
Letter, Re: Examiner:
The City Clerk suggested that to conserve the funds budgeted
for the current year, the State Auditor, through the Division of Municipal Corporations,
be petitioned to defer examination of the city records until after the new year, and it
was then moved by Councilman Townsend and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the Mayor
be authorized and instructed to write the State Auditor and make such request. Motion
declared carried.
Public Works Funds:
Upon inquiry relative to Public '.Yorke funds, Deputy City Attorne
Daly reported that in company with citizens of the city, he had visited Mr. Hoffman, State
Engineer for such projects and learned that in relation to Improvement Districts, the sit-
uation was not very rosy, but that the Public Works Administration would unquestionably
match any funds that the city may appropriate for water works improvements.
City Water Supt. Green, stated upon inquiry, that he had contacted Mr. Sadler and the
he may visit the city within a few days.
ADJOURNMENT.
Upon motion of Councilman Townsend, seconded by Councilman Lammers, Council adjourned

session.

It was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that with
the exception of bill for cartage upon the Park Fund that the said claims be allowed, and
that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to draw warrants upon the proper funds in
' payment of same. Upon roll call all six Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and
1 motion was declared carried.
