ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS
Resolution Re: New Truck:
Confirming motion passed earlier in this session of the Council, the following Reso-
lution was presented and read, to -wit:
RESOLUTION.
WHEREAS, it appears to the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that the purchase of
a new truck, to replace the present old truck, for the Water Department is impera-
tive and should be made immediately; and
WHEREAS, there is no budget item for truck replacement from the funds provided for the Wate
Department Budget for the year 1933, and
WHEREAS, there has been budgeted for the purchase of a new truck for the Water Department
In the year 1934, the sum of 4625.00, and
WHEREAS, the City Treasurer has available in cash in the Olympic Gravity Water Fund, and
unobligated, more than said sum of $625.00,
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED, that a borrowing be effected from the said cash on hand in the
Olympic Gravity Water Fund of not to exceed $625.00 for the immediate purchase of
new truck for the Water Department, said sum to be repaid when disbursements from
the 1934 Water Budget be legally made and the City Treasurer be and she is hereby
authorized to advance a sum not to exceed $625.00 from the cash on hand for the
purposes aforesaid.
Adopted by the City Council at the regular session of Oct. 3-4, 1933.

It was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman Townsend that the said
resolution be adopted. Upon roll call all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative
and motion was declared carried.

BUDGET ORDINANCES

Pursuant to instructions from the City Council, ordinances confirming the budget as
adopted and fixing the tax rates for the ensuing year were presented and disposed of, as
follows:
Water Department Budget:
The Rater budget ordinance,entitled "An Ordinance fixing and adopting a Budget for the
Water Department of the City of Port Townsend for the year 1934" was presented and read in
full for the first reading. It was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman
Lafferty that the first reading be considered the second reading and that the third reading
be by title only. Upon roll call all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and
motion was declared carried.
Third Reading and Passage:
The City Clerk read the said ordinance by title only for the third reading, whereupon
it was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that said ordinance
do now pass. Upon roll call all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and mo-
tion was declared carried.
The following is a full, true and correct copy of said Ordinance as passed by the City
Council October 4th, 1933, approved by the Mayor October 4th, 1933 and published in the For
Townsend Leader October 5th, 1933, to -wit:

THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the following described budget be, and the same is hereby fixed and
adopted for the Water Department of the City of Port Townsend for tye year 1934, divided in
the total amounts in each of the following classes comprising the whole of the budget,
to -wit:
Salaries and Wages ...................................... $ 4,590.00
Operation and Maintenance
............................... 5,130.00
Interest and Debt Redemption ...... ....... .... . 45,900.00
Section 2. That this Ordinance shall be in

The City Clerk next presented an Ordinance, entitled "An Ordinance fixing and adopting
the Budget for the City of Fort Townsend for the year 1934", and read the same in full for
the first reading. It was then moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman
Miller that the first reading be considered the second reading and that the third reading
be by title:7only. Upon roll call all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and

motion was declared carried.

1934.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:

adopted for the City of Port Townsend for the year 1934, for taxation purposes, divided in

Next introduced was an Ordinance entitled "An Ordinance making and fixing the tax levy
for the City of Fort Townsend, Washington, for taxes for the year 1934", which the City
Clerk read in full for the first reading. It was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded
by Councilman Townsend that the first reading be considered the second reading and that the
third reading be by title only. Upon roll call all five Councilmen present voted in the

An Ordinance making and fixing the tax levy for the City of Port Townsend, Washington,
for taxes for the year 1934.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That there are hereby levied upon all the taxable property in the City of
Port Townsendy Washington, the following sums of money and rates of tax levy for the dif-
ferent purposes herein designated for the year 1934, and the rate of taxation upon the
assessed valuation for such purposes is as follows:
First: For the payment of current expenses of said city and for the Current Expense Fund,
the sum of Seventeen Thousand, One Hundred Forty-three and 77/100 Dollars (417,143.77),
and the rate of tax levy for said fund ie hereby fixed at seventeen (17) mills on the dolls.
Second: For the payment of Interest on Bonds, First Issue, the sum of Two Thousand, Seven
Hundred Seventy-three and 25/100 Dollars (92,773.25), and the rate of tax levy for said pur
pose is hereby fixed at two and three -fourths (2-3/4) mills on the dollar.
Third: For the payment of Interest on Bonds, Second Issue, the a= of Seven Hundred Fifty
six and 34/100 Dollars ('0756.34), and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is hereby fixed
at three -fourths (3/4) mill on the dollar.
Fourth: For the Bond Redemption Fund, First Issue of Bonds, the sum of Two 'thousand, Five
Hundred Twenty-one and 14/100 Dollars ($2;"621.14), and the rate of tax levy for said pur-
pose is hereby fixed at two and one-half (2jr) mills on r.he dollar.
Fifth: For the Bond Redemption Fund, Second Issue of Bonds, the sum of Three Thousand,
Twenty-five and 37/100 Dollars (93,025.37), and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is
hereby fixed at three (3) mills on the dollar.
Sixth: For the payment of interest on bonds and for bond redemption, Port Townsend Gen-
eral Indebtedness 1931 Water Bond and Interest Fund, the sum of One Thousand, Five Hundred,
Twelve and 68/100 Lollars ($1,512.68), and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is hereby
fixed at one and one-half (1-1/2) mills on the dollar.
Seventh: For the payment of indebtedness of the City of Port Townsend; known, as the "In-
debtedness Fund", the sum of Six Thousand, Fifty and 74/100 Dollars (v6,050.74), and the
rate of tax levy for said purpose is hereby fixed at six (6) mills on the dollar.
Eighth: For the purpose of maintaining a Public Library, and for the Library Fund, the
sum of One Thousand, Five Hundred Twelve and '68/100 Dollars (V1512.68), and the rate of tax
levy for said purpose is hereby fixed at one and one-half (1-1/2) mills on the dollar.
Ninth: For the purpose of maintaining a public park, and for the Park Fund, the sum of
One Thousand, Eight and 45/100 Dollars (91,00B.45), and'the rate of tax levy for said pur-
pose is hereby fixed at one (1) mill on the dollar.
Section 2. That the Mayor and the City Clerk of said city are hereby authorized and
directed to certify to the County Assessor and the County Auditor of Jefferson County,
Washington, the foregoing tax levy of said city.
