It was moved by Councilman Townsend and seconded by Councilman Smith that the Council recess for a short period. Motion carried and recess declared. Council re' -Convenes add Roll Call. Council re -convened at 10:30 o'clock P.M., and upon Roll Call, there were present Mayor George Bangerter, Deputy City Atty W. J. Daly, City Clerk C. F. Christian, and Coun- cilmen W. B. Smith, U. S. Lafferty, Wm. Lammers,Sr., Jacob Miller, C. P. Aubert, Geo. F. Townsend and Sam McGee. Beer Ordinance Amendment: Pursuant to unofficial request of the City Council, Deputy City Attorney Daly drew and submitted the following proposed amendment Eo Ordinance #1026, to -wit: ORDINANCE NO. AN ORDINANCE repealing certain sections of Ordinance No. 1026 entitled "An Ordinance licensing the sale of certain beverages for the purpose of revenue, regulation and control providing for the supervision and revocation of licensee; defining offenses against said ordinance and providing penalties for the violation thereof", passed by the City Council March 30th, 1933, approved by the Mayor March 30th, 1933; as amended by Ordinance No. 1027 passed by the City Council April 4th, 1933, approved by the Mayor April 5th, 1933. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOVS: Section 1. That sections 5 and 6 of Ordinance No. 1026 entitled "An Ordinance licens- ing the sale of certain beverages for the purpose of revenue, regulation and control; pro- viding for the supervision and revocation of licenses; defining offenses against daid or- dinance and providing penalties for the violation thereof"; passed by the City Council March 30th, 1933, approved by the Mayob March 30th, 1933; as amended by Ordinance No. 1027 passed by the City Council April 4th, 1933, approved by the Mayor April 5th, 1933; be and the same are hereby repealed. Section 2. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend Leader and to be in force and take effect from and after five days from such publication. Passed by the City Council Approved by the Mayor It was then moved by Councilman,Townsend and seconded by Councilman Smith that the firat^reading be considered the second reading and that the third reading be by title only, Upon roll call, Councilmen Smith, Miller, Townsend and McGee voted in the affirmative, Councilmen Lafferty and Aubert voted in the hegative and Councilman Lammers was excused from voting. Lacking the necessary five affirmative votes, the motion was declared lost, No change in water rates. It was moved by Councilman Smith and seconded by Councilma: Lafferty that the Council go on record as being opposed to any changes in the Water Ordi- nance at the present time. Upon Roll Call, all seven Councilmen voted in the affirmative add motion was declared carried. Adjournment: Council adjourned. Lammers, Mayor Pro Tom presiding until the arrival of Mayor Bangerter. ROLL CALL. Upon Roll Call there were present Deputy City Attorney W._J.`Daly;"City Clerk C. F. Christian; and Councilmen Wm. Lammers,Sr., Jacob Miller; C. P. Aubert, Geo. F. Townsend and Sam McGee; Mayor Bangerter and Councilman Smith arriving later in the session. MINUTES APPROVED. The Minutes of the regular session of Sept. 5/33 were read and ap= proved as read. REPORTS OF OFFICERS. City Treasurer August Report: The report of the City Treasurer for the month of Au- gust, 1933, wan presented, read, and referred to the Finance Committee. Smith arrives: Councilman W.'B•z Smith arrived at this time and took his seat in the Council. Main Line Meter Readings: Reports of the Water Superintendent showing the flow of wa- ter through the main line meters, for the period ending Sept. 19th, were presented, read, and were ordered Piled. Water Supt. Work Report: The Work Report of the City Water Supt., for the period ending Sept. 19th, v as presented, read, and ordered filed. Hasting65 Avenue pipe costs: The Water Superintendent submitted the following report showing the cost of pipe renewal on Hastings Avenue, to -wit: Fort Townsend, Wash., September 19th, 1933 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash. Gent leipem: - Attached to this letter is a report of the time and the cost of material used on Hastings Avenue, when putting in the new pipe, and is as follows: For Labor: Fifty-five days and four hours time Cal $3.75 per day $ 208.12 John Watkins, 7 days 0 $3.75 per day 18.69 W. August Report: The monthly report of the City Water Supt. for the month of August, 1933, was presented, read, and referred to the Water Committee. Street Supt. Work Report: The work report of the Street Superintendent for the period ending Sept. 17, 1933, was presented, read; and ordered filed. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. Edw. Lake Street Light: Councilman Aubert reported verbally on the petition of Edw. A Lake for the installation of a street light at the corner of Adams and Garfield Streets, in effect that upon investigation he found that the location was not darker than many other street intersections; that owing to financial conditions the time was not opportune to con- tract additional obligations and he would, therefore, report unfavorably on the petition. It was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman McGee that the said repor be adopted. Upon Roll Call, Councilmen Lammers, Miller, Aubert, McGee and Smith voted in the affirmative and Councilman Townsend in the negative. Motion declared carried. Mrs. Currie License Transfer: Mrs. Vera Currie, to whom a beverage license had been granted, submitted the following petition to the Council, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., Sept. 19th, 1933 r To the Honorable Mayor and City Council: i? If the motion goes through to have the ordinance changed so that the restricted area on Washington Street ie opened, I would like to have my license changed from 101-103 Taylor 71 Street to our new location at 840 Washington Street.
