Dredging at Point Hudson:
Communication from the Treasury Department, relative to proposed dredging at the
Quarantine'Station site, was presented and read, as follows:
Washington, D. C., August 23, 1933
City Clerk, Port Townsend, Washington We
Receipt is acknowledged of your letter of July 13, 1933, inclosing Resolution rela-
tive to the proposed dredging at the Port Townsend, Washington, Quarantine Station site,
permitting overflow of waste dirt on the easterly side of Jackson Street so as to cause
the actual widening of Jackson Street from its present travelled area to width as de-
tailed on the original plat of the City of Port Townsend.
You are informed that it appears the beet interests of the United States would be
served by depositing the dredged material entirely upon the Quarantine Station site.
However, if there is any surplus material to be disposed of no objection would be
interposed by this Department to overflowing such excess material on the easterly side
of Jackson Street, and the City may be able to make satisfactory arrangements with the
Government's contractor with regard to obtaining excess dredged material.
Respectfully,
N. W. Robert, Jr.
Assistant Secretary of the Treasury.
Said communication was ordered filed.

Port Townsend, Wash., August 22, 1933
Han. Mayor and City Councilmen;
City of Port Townsend, Port Townsend, Wash. Re: Beer Ordinance.
Gentlemen:
On inquiring about making an application for a permit to sell malter liquor to b
consumed on the premises at our restaurant, which is situated at Washington and "earney
Streets, we find that the present ordinance prohibits the sale of said liquor at this ad -
dross, but is permissible across the street from our building.
We realize that this ordinance was dwawn up on rather short notice which undoubt-
edly explains the reason for this situation. We therefore request that the present otdi-
nance be amended so that it includes block sixty-nine of L. B. Hastings 2nd Addition to
Port Townsend.
As we do not wish to cause the city any expense in this matter, we are enclosing
check herewith for two dollars ($2.00) to cover expense for printing the above required
amendment.
We would appreciate your kind efforts and immediate attention in this matter as
we wish to construct a new building and make some alterations and be open for business
befox.i the summer is over. .
Respectfully yours,
Martin Brothers
