Dear Sir: - I an, in receipt of your favor of August 2nd regarding the removal of rails, tics and planking in the block between Tyler and Tnylor Streets. I am instructing our Agent at Tovrnsend to have our section crew do this work so that it will be completed by August 14th. Your suggestion that the old planking be used further up the street is alright and we will. act acerdingly. Inasmuch as the paving will be put in immediately after our track is out I do not presume it will be neceasary to do much leveling off which would necessitate the haul - in of gravel, involving considerable expense to us and a fir -her expense to the Highway De- partment in hauling it out when they prepare for the paving. however I have asked :Lr. :1c- Mahon to talY. to ;;ou about the matter and you can tell him just what you want done. Yours truly, Said letter was ordered filed for rurther ref'orence. spa `J (Reports of Officers continued) a E. M. STARRETT SPEAKS, RE: PAVING. Idr, E. M. After some discussion, it was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman McGee, that the Council go on record as favoring the "black top" paving of the whole street in preference to the two blocks of concrete.
