COMMUNICATIONS. I
From Jan. A. Davis, Dist. Engineer.
A communication from Jan. A. Davis, Dist. Engineer, State Highway Department, was pre
rented, and read as follows: -
Olympia, Plash., July 25th, 1933:
Hon, Mayor and City Council,
Port Townsend, ':;ash.
Gentlemen: -
Under the National Industrial Recovery Act, we are planning on paving two blocks
in the City of Port Townsend on !.'star Street from the west line of Tyler to.th8 east line
of Taylor, and on Taylor from the south line of lYater Street to the dock.
The plans provide for the paving of a 201 strip on these two blocks and the pa-
ving of a full intersection at both Tyler and l','ater,, and Taylor and 'Water. In order that
this 201 strip in the block between Tyler and Taylor on Prater may be placed in the center
of the street leaving the space on either side ays_lable for parking, it will be necessary
to secure the removal of the railroad track now existing on this street.
It is my understanding that the ordinance granting the frnnchise for the constru
tion of this railroad provides for its removal at such time as you may request it. Ines -
much as we are starting to prepare plans for the paving of these two blocks, L am request-
ing that your honorable body secure the removal of this track from the west line of Tyler
Street to the easterly end thereof.
Yours very truly,
