To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Gentlemen: - I wish your permission to place a concrete sidewalk in front of my building on Lot 3, Block 43, Water Street, at my convenience. Specifications to be the same as now in front of the City Ball. Yours sincerely, F. G. Lewis. This application was referred to the Street Committee for investigation and report. COVir:UNICATIONS. Water for Camp Leland. A communication from the Quartermaster, War Department, at Cam Lewis, relative to a water supply for the Conservation Camp at Quilcene, visa presented and read, as follows: 'tAR DEPARTuUvNT, Office of the Quartermaster, Fort Lewis ';ash., July 15, 1933. Subject: Water Service. To: The Mayor, City of Port Townsend, Port Townsend, Wash. This office is desirous of securing an adequate and pure water supply for use of Civilian-Coneervationc,Corps'located at Camp Leland, Quilcene, 'ii'ash. It is understood that ureter main supplying the City of Port Townsend runs directly through the camp site. With a view toward securing this water service, it is requested that you advise this office if this camp can be supplied by the City of Port Townsend and the monthly charge for same. Upon receipt of this information the necessary agreement forms will be forwarded for your signature. Arthur J. Davis Lt-Colonel, Q.Y. Corps Quartermaster. After some discussion in regard to the agreements and stipulations involved, it was moved by Counc� q Tovrnsend and seconded by Councilman Aubert thst the City Clerk be instructed to}}ttiL Quartermaster and explain the situation and procedure necessary to se- cure a tap on the main line, to the end that in view of the red tape required, the Q.Y. Department may consider favorably some other source of water supply. Motion declared carried. REQUISITIONS. City Clerk: A requisition for the City Clerk's office was presented for the follow' ing supplies: 200 - 2¢ stamped envelopes. 100 - 1¢ stomps. It was moved by Councilman Miller and seconded by Councilman McGee that the said requisition be granted. Motion declared carried. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS. City Hall Hoof. The matter of repairing and painting the roof of the City Hall was brought up and referred to the Building Committee for investigation and report. Later in the session, the matter was again referred to and to expedite matters so that the work may be compl0ted during good weather, the Building Committee were requested to secure estimates and pf:oposa for doing the work and report same at the next regular session. Special Election question. The matter of the advisability of holding an election for additional millage to balance the budget for the coming year visa discussed, and it was informally agreed that the matter should be given as much publicity as possible so that the prevailing sentiment forror against the matter, could be obtained if possible. Fire Hazard in Haller Building,: In the matter of the stove pipe fire hazard in th Haller Building, Mr. Brooks of the 4ariety store, was given the privilege of the floor and stated that this outlet had been protected until hebelieved the some to be perfectly safe. Being advised that it was wholly contrary to the building ordinance, he stated that he would take it up vrith the owners of the building and remedy the situation. :Mr. Brooks complained that an unusual amount p m unt of rubbish visa thrown alongside and back of the building by people using the terrace steps and otherwise, and the whole matter was referred to the Fire and Light Committee together with the Fire Chief. Supplies 6.70 Total .............................. 16.03 It was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said claims be alloyed and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to draw warrants upon the proper funds in payment of same. Upon Roll Call, all seven councilmen voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. REPORTS OF OFFICERS. Attorney on Loop Construction. Deputy City Attorney Daly, reporting on the proposed construction of the second loop of the city water system with funds to be taken from the Olympic Gravity Water Fund to be matched by a like amount from State Funds, stated that City Attorney Scott had rendered Uri opinion that the funds of the Olympic-Uravity 'later 'llorks were all pledged to the Water Bond Fund of 1927 and could not legally be used for the proposed construction. Considerable informal discussion followed, there being no question before the Council and no action, by motion or otherwise, was proposed or- taken. Sah ry Warrants Issued.
