City Attorney Daly submitted, also, the following written report relating .o possible likelihood of obtaining state or federal aid for public works, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., July 11, 1933 ionorable Mayor and City Council, City of Port Townsend, ;entlemen:- That great and omnipotent travelling ambassador, L;r. E. Norris Starrett, inform ed me this morning that on Monday at Olympia, he had conferred with Mr. Tiffany, the public rrorks director of the State of 1.7ashington, and Mr. Tiffany stated that'if the City of Port Townsend Gould provide the sum of $15,000.00 from its water fund, that a like sun would be matched by the state and federal government in order to permit the completion of the co called second loop of the city water distribution system. I don't know whether or not that sum of money is actually or legally available, but in order that our acting postmaster be pacified, I am attaching herewith the blank form which he handed me this morning along with his verbal information. Respectfully, W. J. Daly, Dap. City Attorney.' This communication and the matter referred to visa referred to the Finance and Water Committees for investigation and report. SMITH arrived at this time and took his seat in the Council. Report of Water Supt. The report of the City ''�eter Supt, for the month of June, Tres presented, read, and referred to the '!later Committee. MAYOR GEO. BA14GERTER arrived at this time and thereafter predided. Lain Line Meter Readings. City '!later Supt. Green submitted reports showing the flour c water through the main line meters for the period ending July 3rd, and same were ordered filed. The work report of the City '!'star Sitpt., for the period from June 21st to July llth, inclusive, was presented, read, and ordered filed. I' Street Supt. Work Report. The work report of the Street Supt. for the period from June 21st to June 30th inclusive, was presented, read, and ordered filed. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. Irondale-Hadlock ',later Pressure. Councilman Lammers, chairman of the Water & Drainage committee, reported verbally that the committee had conferred with the officers of the Natural Paper Products Company relative to increasing the pressure on the Hadlock-Irondale line and learned that the said officers were opposed to any change in the pressure. Councilman Lammers reported further that '!later Supt. Green had stated that they had found and removed some obstructions in the pipe line and that the pressure was now better. Water & Drainage, on Report. The dater and Drainage Committee submitted the following report: Port Townsend, Wash., July 11, 1933 To the Honorable Alayor and City Council, Port Townsend, ".'ash. Gentlemen: Your Committee, on Water and Drainage, to whom was referred the matter of 'Hater Superintendent's report for month of May, 1933, would respectfully report as follows: We find same to be correct. The committe on Finance*and Claims submitted the following written report: Port Townsend, 7iash., July 11, 1933 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Rash. Gentlemen: Your Committee, on Finance and Claims, to whom was referred the matter of City Treasurer's Report for the month of May, 1933, would respectfully report as follows: 'Pe find same to agree with ledger balances. (signed) Wm. Lammers, Sr. C. P. Aubert Said reports were ordered filed. Revert to Bills and Claims. Claim of Geo. Willestoft not allowed. At the request of the City Clerk, the Council reverted to order of business of Bills and Claims, to present the claim of Geo. 11fillestoft for $11.25 for three days services as patrolman during the illness of Chief of Police Comp ton. It appearing the the Chief of Police had been paid his full salary for the month of June, it was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the claim be not allowed. Upon roll call, Councilmen Culler, Aubert, 75cGee, Lafferty and Lam mers voted in the affirmative and Councilmen Townsend and Smith in the negative. Motion declared carried. Claim of Olympic Hdwe & Furniture Co. allowed. The claim of the Olympic Hdwe & Furnitu Co. for fingerprinting materials, which had not been approved by the Finance Committee, be cause not yet been certified correct by the Chief of Police, and amounting to $6.81, was next taken up and it was moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman Townsend that the claim be allowed if it received the approval of the Chief of Police. Motion declared carried. BUILDING PERMITS. Applications for Building Permits were presented, read, and disposed of, as follows: From E.717. Franklin, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., July 3rd, 1933 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, hash. Gentlemen: Permission is requested to erect a frame dwelling house on my property, Lots 1 and 2, Block 16, 0. C. Hastings Add., at an estimated cost of $1500.00.
