I have handed to the Clerk copies of a proposed draft of the requested ordinance licensing auto trucks and delivery vehicles in the City of Port Townsend. I have shown this proposed ordinance to Mr. Scott and he has requested me that this ordinance lay over until next meeting when such rates and revisions may be entered as will meet the wishes of the Council. There is a copy of the proposed ordinance for each councilman. Yours very truly, l;'. J. Daly, Deputy City Attorney. Proposed Vehicle Ordinance read. The proposed ordinance to license commercial vehicles was entitled, as follows: "AN ORDINANCE relating to and providing for the licensing of certain motor and other vehicles; defining offenses; providing regulations for the some; providing pen- alties; providing for the suspension and revocation of ordinances and repealing ordi- n rnance.No. _. 11 At the request of Councilman Aubert, the said proposed ordinance was read in full, and then, as requested by the City Attorney, the same was referred to the committee on Police, revenue and license. UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS. Price,cf urader Teeth. The City Clerk reported that the Howard -Cooper Corp., the only firm responding to letters of inquiry, had quoted a price of $3.75 each for new teeth for the grader. Councilman Townsend then mentioned a particularly hard metal called steel - its and suggested that inquiry be made ae to the cost of facing the teeth with the said metal and the cost of same as compared with standard teeth. The matter was then refer- red back to the Street Committee. Dog Tax Collections: The City Clerk asked for official action on the manner of paying the special officer for collection of dog licenses and it was moved by Councilman Smith and seconded by Councilman Townsend that the said officer be paid on a basis of 50 per cent of the total amount collected since his appointment. Motion declared sar•ried. Gasoline Leakage. The City Clerk also requested instruction in the matter of accountin; for the waste of gasoline account of leakage from the city's pump and it was moved by Coun cilman Smith that the leakage be charged pro rate to the departments using gasoline. The motion was not seconded and it was then moved by Councilman Townsend and seconded by Coun- cilman Lafferty that the excess loss from leakage, for April, be charged to the Water De- partment. Motion declared carried. Plater for Naval Vessels Acceptance. The City Clerk reported receipt of acceptance of proposal to furnish fresh water to Naval Vessels, from the Department. Power Site Stipulations: The City Clerk further reported receipt of a copy of the let- ter written by the Register of the District Land Office at Spokane in transmitting the stipulations executed by the City to the Commissioner of the General Land Office. Total 21.61 After some discussion relative to the number of days the relief patrolman was to be ' employed, it was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Townsend that the said claims be alloyed and that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to draw warrant r viSi'a�7� upon the proper funds in payment of same.
