Buhler, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., April 18, 1933 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, CIty of Port Townsend, "ashington. Gentlemen: - Permission is hereby ,requested to raze the old brewery building located upon Lots 1 and 2 of Block 44 of the original Townslte to the City of Port Townsend. This building in its present status is dangerous to human life and an eyesore to the public. All debris will be removed and the site will be left clean and free of all trash. Very truly yours, J. J. Lafferty and W. J. Buhler, Owners. By J. J. Lafferty. It was moved by Councilman Miller and seconded by Councilman Townsend that the said permission be granted. :Motion declared carried. From Peninsula.Brewing Co., to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., April 18th, 1933 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, City of Port Townsend, Washington. Gentlemen: - Permission is requested to erect on Lot 3 of Block 44, an addition to the brick building now located thereon. Estimated cost is $700.00. Construction to be of brick and stucco. Very respectfully, Peninsula Brewing Co., By E. J. Dailey. The said application was referred to the Building Committee. RECESS VOTED. It was moved by Councilmen Townsend and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the Coun- cil recess for ten or fifteen minutes. Motion declared carried. COUNCIL RECONVENES AND ROLL CALL. Council reconvened at 9:30 o'clock P.M., and upon Roll Call there were present Mayor . George Dangerter, Deputy City Attorney W. J. Daly, City Clerk C. F. Christian, and Coun- cilmen C. P. Aubert, Geo. F. Townsend, Sam McGee, W. B. Smith, W. S.,Lafferty, Wm. Lam- mers and Jacob Miller. RESOLUTIONS. Resolution to enforce Ordinances. Councilman Aubert presented and read the following resolution, to -wit: ""1HEREAS, it has come to the notice of the Police, hevenue and License Committee that certain ordinances, including the "Night Parking Ordinance," are not being enforced and that licenses of various occupations are not collected; Therefore, be it RESOLVED, that it is the sense of the Council that the Mayor and Chief of Police be instructed to use all reasonable endeavors to enforce these ordinances and collect the li- cense fees of these occupations or close them to the public." Councilman Aubert made inquiry if license due had been paid and Mayor Bangerter replier that collection had not been forced because of the bank moratorium. Resolution adopted. It was then moved by Councilman Aubert and seconded by Councilman McGee that the said resolution be adopted. Upon Roll Call, Councilmen Aubert, McGee, Lafferty, Lammers and Griller voted in favor thereof and Councilmen Townsend and Smith in the negative. Motion declared carried. Depository Bank. At the request of the Council, �"r. Daly prepared the following resolution, naming a Seattle Bank as depository, supplementing the endorsement of the City ,.reasurerts action in depositing city funds in the National Bank of Commerce, to -wit: RESOLUTION. Resolved by the City Oouncil of the City of Port Townsend, that the National Bank of Commerce, Seattle, Washington, be and the same is hereby designated as a depository for the deposit of public funds of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, for the year 1933. Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be transmitted to the City Tease urer. Resolution adopted: It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Lammers a e sa resolution be adopted. Upon roll call, all seven councilmen voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. UNFINISHED AND NON BUSINESS. Reservoir Repairs: Reporting on final repairs on the small reservoir, the City Cler at the request of Councilman Lammers, read the letter of recommendation of former City En- gineer Sadler and Councilman Lammers then tasked Mrvndreen; Water Supt. what further work if any, had been done. Mr. Green reported that no further work had been done because of unfavorable weather; that the bottom of the reservoir and a patch on the side was yet to tlave a coat of asphalt but that it was best to wait until fairly assured of a few days of warm, dry weather. Harbor and Dealth Report: Councilman McGee, chairman of the Harbor and Health com- It I a s 419 Minutes of April 18/33 continued. mittee, reported that the garbage contractor had told him that the garbage dump was in g= condition but that people along the water front were still throwing their garbage and rub- bish in the Bay and that several dead seagulls were lying on the beach, and that as he had 1 no authority over the "ealth officer, he was reporting these conditions in the Council. Mayor Bangerter replied that he should report it direct to the Health Officer. Dispensing City Gas: Councilman Townsend brought up the matter of dispensing gas from the City Pump, stating that under the original instructions, there was some die -satisfac- tion. Councilman Townsend then moved and it was seconded by Councilman Lafferty, that both of the Fire Truck Drivers or caretakers be authorized to dispense gasoline to author- ized city departments when on duty. Motion declared carried. Amend Commercial Vehicle License: Bringing up the matter of licensing trucks and other commercial vehicles, it was moved by Councilman Townsend and seconded by Councilman Smith that the City Attorney be instructed to draft an ordinance amending the present vehicle license ordinance so as to include all commercial vehicles.
