THE CITY COUNCIL of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, met in regular session this
18th day of October, 1932, at 7:30 otclock P.M., in the Council Chambers of the City Hall,
Mayor George Bangerter presiding.
ROLL CALL.
Upon Roll Call, there were present Mayor George Bangerter, City Attorne
Jag. W. B. Scott, City Clerk C. F. Christian, and Councilmen W. S. Lafferty, Wm. Lammers S
Jacob Miller and W. B. Smith; Councilman Smith arriving later in the session.
MINUTES OF OCT. 3rd and 4th.
The minutes of the Statutory aes6l:on of Oct. 3rd,
(for consideration of 1933 budget), and the minutes of the regular session of October 4th,
were read and approved as read.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS:
WATER SUPT. MONTHLY REPORT.
The report of the City Water Supt. for the month of
September, 1932, was presented, read and referred to the Water Committee.
MAIN LINE METER READINGS:
The report of the City Engineer showing the flow of wa-
ter through the main line meters, for the period ending Oct. 18th, was presented, read, an
ordered filed.
REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES.

BUILDING PERMITS.
Applications for Building Permits were presented, read, amd disposed of, as follows:

Permission is requested to re -shingle the roof on the porch of the dwelling houa
at 112E Lawrence Street, at an estimated coat of $5.00 for the materials.

I am herewith asking your permission to build a combined woodshed and garage,
361'x 201 on my home lot, back of my house facing Garfield St. Material and labor to coal
about Two Hundred Fifty (250) dollars. Also I wish to remove the old building and put in
its place the new.

It was moved by Councilman Laffertcy and seconded by Councilman
Miller that the said permits be granted. Motion declared carried.
COMMUNICATIONS.
From Mayor Geo. Bangerter.
A communication from Mayor Bangerter was presented and read,as
follows, to -wit:

To the City Council,
City of Port Townsend, Washington.
Gentlemen: -
I wish through this body to compliment the City Fire Lepartment for the splen-
did work done at the fires in the county on Thursday and 2'riday October sixth and seventh,
when their help was very much needed. Particularly do I commend Chief Lafferty for his
skill in handling the difficult situation, and the following members of the department;
Assistant Chief J. H. Siebenbaum, firemen Horace.Gleason, Jack Metzger, and Engineman Wayn,
Albright for their expraordinary efforts to help out the fire chief.
I also wish to commend through this body the assistance rendered by Ed. Witheragi
Oscar Hetzel and Larl Helander of the Olympic Hardware, Mir. Flynn of the Union Oil Company
Mr. Tony DeLeo of the Port Townsend Lumber Co., 4 George Welch, and Chief of Police Elme:

Compton. They answered the call for volunteers on Thursday, October 6th, and worked unti
three -thirty Friday morning. Through their efforts, we were able to control the fire men-
ace, and thus save valuable property.

We wish to extend to you our thanks for ,your timely aid last week when forest fires
threatened our homes. We deeply appreciate:iyour help and fully realize the good will be-
hind it and will never forget the kindly gesture. To each and every one of the firemen
we extend our sincere thanks.

Application from Street Supt. J. R. Pollard, for 10 days leave, was presented and rea
as follows:

I herewith make application for 10 days leave when my services can be spared without
adding any extra expense to the city.

REQUISITIONS.
Requisitions from the Water "apartment for various divisions of the work, were preser
ted, read, and disposed of, as follows:

One box letter carbon paper. One Box pencil carbon paper.
For repair of reservoirs, to -wit:

For Repair and waintenance, to -wit:

Councilman Peach arrives.
Councilman S. V. Peach arrived during reading of these requisi-
tions andtook his seat in the council.
