Tax Levy Ordinance.
An drdinance making and fixing the tax levy for the ensuing fiscal year and entitled,
"An Ordinance making and fixing the tax levy for the City of Port Townsend, Washington,
for taxes for the year 1933," was next presented and was now read in full for the first
reading.
It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Lafferty, that the fire
reading be considered the second reading and that the third reading be by title only. Up-
on Roll Call, all six Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared
carried.

The City Clerk then read the said ordinance by title only
for the third reading and it was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman
Lafferty that said Ordinance do now pass. Upon Roll Call, all six Councilmen present
voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.

The following is a full, true and correct copy of said Ordinance
as passed by the City Council Oct. 4th, 1932, approved by the Mayor Oct. 4th, 1932, and
published in the Port Townsend Leader October 6th, 1932, to -wit:
ORDINANCE NO. 1021.
An Ordinance making andfixing the tax levy for the City of Port Townsend, Washington,
for taxes for the year 1933.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF PORT T0RNSEND, WASHINGTON, DO ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That there are hereby levied upon all the taxable property in the City of
Port Townsend, Washington, the following sums of money and rates of tax levy for the dif-
ferent purposes herein designated for the year 1933, and the rate of taxation upon the as-
aessed valuation for such purposes is as follows:
First: For the payment of current expenses of said city and for the Current Expense
Fund, the sum of Eighteen Thousand, Nine Hundred Thirty-one and 45/100 Dollars ($18,931.45 ,
and the rate of tax levy for said fund is hereby fixed at eighteen (18) mills on the dollar.
Second: For the payment of Interest on Bonds, First Issue, the sum of Two Thousand,
Eight Hundred Ninety-two and 30/100 Dollars ($2,892.30), and the rate of tax levy for said
purpose is hereby fixed at two and three -fourths (2-3/4) mills on the dollar.
Third: For the Payment of Interest on Bonds, Second Issue, the sum of Seven Hundred
Eighty-eight and 80/100 Dollars ($788.80), and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is
hereby fixed at three -fourths (3/4) mills on the dollar.
Fourth: For the Bond Redemption Fund, First Issue of Bonds, the sum of Three Thousan
One Hundred Fifty-five and 24/100 Dollars ($3,155.24), and the rate of tax levy for said
purpose is hereby fixed at three (3) mills on the dollar.
Fifth: For the Bond Redemption Fund, Second Issue of Bonds, the sum of Three Thousand
One Hundred Fifty-five and 24/100 Dollars ($3,155.24), and the rate of tax levy for said
purpose is hereby fixed at three (3) mills on the dollar.
Sixth: For the payment of interest on bonds and for bond redemption, Port Townsend
General Indebtedness 1931 Water Bond and Interest Fund, the sum of Two Thousand, Three
Hundred Sixty-six and 43/100 Dollars ($2,366.43), and the rate of tax levy for said pur-
pose is hereby fixed at two and one-fourth (24) mills on the dollar.
Seventh: For the payment of indebtedness of the City of Port Townsend, known as the
"Indebtedness Fund," the sum of Six Thousand, Three Hundred Ten and 48/100 Dollars ($6,310 -
d48), and the rate of tax levy for said purpose is hereby fixed at six (6) mills on the
ollar.
Eighth: For the purpose of maintaining a Public Library and for the Library Fund, the
sum of One Thousand, Eight Hundred Forty and 55/100 Dollars ($1,840.55), and the rate of tax
levy for said purpose is hereby fixed at one and three -fourths (1-3/4) mills on the dollar,
Ninth: For the purpose of maintaining a public park and for the Park Fund, the sum o
One Thousand, Fifty-one and 75/100 Dollars ($1,051.75), and the rate of tax levy for said
purpose is hereby fixed at one (1) mill on the dollar.
Section 2. That the Mayor and the City Clerk of said city are hereby authorized and
directed to certify to the County Assessor and the County Auditor of Jefferson County, Was -
ington, the foregoing tax levy of said city.
Section 3. That this ordinance shall be published once in the Port Townsend Leader,
and to take effect and be in force as provided by law.
Passed by the City Council Oct. 4th, 1932.
Approved by the 'layor Oct. 4th, 1932.

ELECTION BOARD RESOLUTION.
The designation of Polling Places and selection of Election Officers for the coming
City Primary Election being mandatory, a Resolution to that effect was presented and read,
as follows:
RESOLUTION.
Be it Resolved by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend that the persons here
inafter named to serve as election officers for the Municipal Primary Election to be held
on the 8th day of November, 1932, be and they hereby are appointed as such election offi-
cers in the several wards of the city, as follows, to -wit:
First Ward: Inspector, G. A. Ruehle; Judges, Alice E.-Shotwell and Grace E. Grasser.
Second Ward: Inspector, F. W. Hastings; Judges, Lucinda Fritz and Sarah N. Peach.
Third Ward: Inspector, Carrie F. Pillep; Judges, Margaret N. Sturrock and W. G. Maple
thorpe
Fourth Ward: Inspector, Fannie G. Brown; Judges Clara McCloy and Pearl Coyne
1•ifth Ward: Inspector, J. E. Howland; Judges, Keith Hoskins and Goo. H. Manchester.
Be it further Kesolved that the following places be and they hereb ar designated as

Adopted. It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Smith that
the sa resolution be adopted. Upon Roll Call, Councilmen Smith, Lafferty, Lammers, Mil
ler and Aldrich voted in the affirmative, and Councilman Starrett declining to vote, the
Mayor, under the rules of the Council, declared his vote to be in the affirmative also.
Councilman Peach arrived at this time and took his seat in the Council.
UNFINISHED ANDNEW BUSINESS.
National Paper Products Co. Proposed Ordinance.
At this time, Mr. Erickson, Resident Manager of the National Paper Products Co. was
accorded the floor and asked to be advised of the sentiment of the Council in relation to
the claim of the said Company for monies paid out for damages to pipe line and the proposes
ordinance which they desired to have introduced. Mr. Erickson then read the proposed Or-
dinance for the information of the Council, and after an extended discussion, Mr. Erickson
stated that he would have another ordinance drawn to cover the points on which there appear
ed to be no difference of opinion, and present same to the Council at a later date.
18 Mill Levy.
Reverting to order of business of "Resolutions," the following resoluti<
was submitted and read in full, to -wit:
RESOLUTION.
A Resolution to fix the Levy for the Current Expense Fund for the year 1933.
RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, that a levy of
eighteen (18) mills be made and levied upon and collectoed from all taxably property withlr
the said city, on the assessed valuation for the year 1932, for the current expense of sail
city for the year 1933.
Passed: It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that 1
said reeo ution be adopted, to precede adoption of Tax Levy Ordinance. Upon Roll Call, a:
seven Councilman voted in the affirmative and motion was declared.
NEW BUSINESS.
Roof Painting.
'everting to New Business, the matter of painting the roof was taken up
and the following proposal was presented and read, as follows, to -wit:
Port Townsend, Wash., October 3rd, 1932.
To the Honorable 'sayer and City Council,
Gentlemen: -
I hereby make a proposal to repair the two damaged chimneys on the city hall as
designated by Roy Seavey, and to paint the slopes of the roof and the tower of the City He'.
for the sum of $25.00. The city to furnish the paint and brushes for the painting job and
I will furnish all rigging necessary to do the work.
Respectfully submitted,
Lyman Stockand.
It was moved by Councilman Reach and seconded by Councilman Starrett that the City
Clerk ask for additional proposals to do the said work. Motion declared carried.
STREET LIGHTING CONTRACT.
In the matter of the proposed new street lighting contract proposed by the Puget Soun
Power & Light Co., at a previous meeting, it was moved by Councilman Peach and seconded by
Councilman Miller that the Mayor and the City Clerk be authorized to enter into a new con-
tract with the Puget Sound Power & Light Co. for Street Lighting. Upon Roll Call, Counci
men Smith, Lafferty, Lammors, Miller, Starrett and Peach voted in the affirmative, and Cou
oilman Aldrich in the negative. Motion declared carried.
ADJOURNMENT.
Upon motion of Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Starrett, Counci
adjourned.
