Cagy Clerk Christian also reported that it was necessary to put the Current Expanse warrants on an interest basis as there was no cash in the fund to meet these claims, the interest being set at 5 per cent per annum. Chief of Police. The report of the Chief of police for the month of September, was presented, read, and ordered filed. Hydrants Tested. Water Superintendent Green presented a report relative to ghe Fire Hydrants, which was read, as follows, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., October 4th, 1932 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash. Gentleman: I have tested out all of the Fire Hydrants and report them to be in good workini order, Oct. 1, 1932. Yours very truly, Said haport was ordered filed. Main Line Meter Readings. The report of City Engineer Sadler of the flow of water through the main line meters for the period ending Sept. 27th, was road,and ordered filed. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES. Fort Flagler Line. Reporting verbally, Councilman Starrett stated that among other local projects taken up with Senator Jones upon his recent visit to the city, it was learn ad that the War department had under consideration the reconstruction of the pipe line to Fort Flagler as a military necessity and that the matter of supplying the villages of Had - lock and Irondale from such Government Line was to be considered. Councilman 111. B. Smith arrived at this time and took his seat in the Council. BUILDING PERMITS. Applications for Building Permits were presented, read, and disposed of as follows: From Mrs. S. T. Oct .3rd;::an::Ordinance coA firming and fixing the Budget for the City Water iepartment for 1933, and entitled, "An Ordinance Fixing and Adopting a Budget for the Water Lapartment for the City of Port Town- send for the year 1933," was presented and read in full for the first reading. It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the first reading be considered the second reading and that the third reading be by title only. Upon Roll Call, all six Coum ilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared car- ried. Third reading and passage. That the following described Budget be, and the same is hereby fixed and adopted for the Water department of the City of Port Townsend for the year 1933, divided in the total amounts in each of the following classes comprising the whole of the budget, to -wit: Salaries and Wages ....................................... $ 4410.00 Maintenance and Operation ............................... 2785.00 Interest and Debt redemption ............................. 45000.00 Section 2.
