It was moved by Councilman Peach and seconded by Councilman -afferty that the said ap-
plication be granted. Upon Roll Call, all six Councilmen present voted in the affirmativ
and motion was declared carried.

Gentlemen: -
Authority is requested to make th,3 foliowing repairs to building occupied by the
terchants Cafe on Lot seven of Block 40 on Plater Street at an estimated coat of eighty del
lars.
Repair waterproofing of roof, halsomining, painting and minor repairs to restaurant.
Minor rppairs to back wall of building.
Practical rebuilding of back porch, 7 feet by 22 feet. The roof of porch to be raised
and present roofing of boards and felt to be replaced with corrugated galvanized iron.
Floor to be aaised about one foot and new joists and floor of two inch plank laid.
Remove old shed in back yard and clean up.

TO MOVE BUILDING, By Mike Maydich.
Application to move building over the city streets visa presented and road, as follows:

To the Honorable Mayor and City Council,
Port Townsend, Plash.
Gentlemen -.-
Permission is requested to move the small building now on Union Dock, and about
10 x 18 feet in size, to my premises in the 0. C. Hastings Addition. It is expected that
the City `ransfer Company will do the actual work of mmving the building and it is not be-
lieved that traffic, will be obstructed at any time. All ordinances of the city to be ob-
served.

It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Peach that the said ap-
plication be granted. Asked for an opinion in the matter, City Attorney Scott stated
that if the soplicatlon was Branded by the Coun::il, the City would be primarily responsible
for any accidents caused to other parties and suggested that the motion include that it be
under the supervision of the Street Superintendent. The motion was so changed with the
I consent of the second and upon a call for the question, the motion visa declared carried.

in the Rules of the City Council of the City of Port Townsend.

It was moved by Councilman Peach and seconded by Councilman Smith that the application
be granted.
Councilman Starrett moved as a substitute moti6n that if the leave is granted that it
be without pay, but the motion received no second.
The original motion was then put and upon Roll Call, Councilmen Peach, Smith and Lam-
mers voted in the affirmative and Councilmen Lafferty, Miller and Starrett in the negative

A communication from John A. McDonald was presented and road as follows, to -wit:

The Honorable Mayor and City Council
of the City of Port Townsend.
Gentlemen:-
I am the owner of Lot 8 in Block 283 of the Eisenbels Addition to the City of Por
Townsend.
The street or road leading from the State Highway to the National Paper Pr6ducts -
Company's mills encroaches some fifteen feet on my property. While I am not at this time
insisting that the road be moved back to its proper place, nevertheless I desire to make a
matter of record in therminutescof your body the fact that I protest the use of my lot or
any pert of it as a public highway.

A communication of like tenor from T. H. Cooper and Irvin Lehman was also presents
and read as follows, to -wit:

Gentlemen: -
We, T. H. Cooper and Irving Lehman, owners respectively of Lots 6 and 7 in Block
283 of Efsenbeis Addition to Port Townsend, submit for your consideration the fact that the
road or street leading from State Road No. 9 to the National Paper Products Company's mills
and which is designated on the city maps as "THOMAS STREET," encroaches some fifteen feet
on the Westerly side of'our property. 17hile we do not at this time insist that the road
be immediately moved to its proper location, nevertheless we do desire to make a matter of
record in the minutes of your body the fact that we protest the use of our lots or any part
of them as a public highway.

It visa moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Smith that the said re-
quisitions be granted. Motion declared carried.
RECESS.
It was moved by Councilman Peach and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the Council
recess for fifteen minutes. Motion carried and recess declared.
COUNCIL RECONVENES, AND ROLL CALL.
Council re -convened at 9:30 o'clock P.M., and upon Roll Call there were present City
Attorney Jos. R. B. Scott, City Clerk C. F. Christian, and Councilmen S. V. Peach, R. B.
Smith, '3. S. Lafferty, Vim. Lammers,Sr., Jacob Miller and E. M. Starrett, Councilman Lammers
Mayor Pro Tem presiding.
PROPOSED STREET LIGHTING CONTRACT.
.r. Steele, of the Puget Sound Power and Light Company submitted foul' copies of a
proposed new street lighting contract, based in new rates filed with the State "apartment
of Public Works, and asked the consideration of the Council, and the same were referred to
the Fire and Light Committee for examination and report.
ORDINANCES ANDRESOLUTIONS.

Salary Ordinance and Tax Levy_. City Clerk Christian informed the Council that a reso- I
lution ee mg t e ax levy or the Current Expense Fund for the ensuing year and also an
ordinance to fix the salaries of the elective officers for the ensuing term, had been.pre- I
pared if the Council desired to consider them at this time, and in relation to same it was
moved by Councilman Starrett and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the matter of a salar
ordinance and extra milinge levy be referred to the Finance Committee to report back, with
recommendations, at the next regular session. Motion declared carried.
TAX REDUCTION APPROVAL.
It was moved by Councilman Starrett and seconded by Councilman Miller that the Council
express approval of the Jefferson County Taxpayers Association and the Taxation Committee
of the Port Townsend Chanber of Commerce for their efforts toward a reduction of taxes for
