MAYOR VETOES LICENSE ORDINANCE.
In the matter of the Business License Ordinance passed by the City Council and submit
ted to the Mayor,for consideration, Mayor Bangerter orally stated his objections to the
proposed ordinance and submitted the following communication in relation thereto:

Gentlemen: -
I am fully in accord with the spirit of the effort to replenish the deplete
treasury of the city, but I do not concur in discriminations of various trades, profession
and businesses outlined proposed in this ordinance.
The laws of this State give this council power to license any and every kind of
business implying, however, that that powershall be applied fairly and equitably. The

Councilman Smith on Deficit.
Bringing up the matter of the overdraft or deficit in the
City Current Expense Fund, Councilman Smith spoke strongly on the necessity of reducing
expenses in every form to meet the deficit and to balance the budget. A general discus-
sion followed.
ADJOURNMENT.
Upon motion fo Councilman Lafferty,seconded by Councilman Peach, Council adjourned.

WATER SUPERINTENDENT'S REPORT.

The report of the Water Superintendent for the month
of July, 1932, was presented, read, and referred to the Water Committee.
Main Line Meter Readings.
City Emgineer Sadler submitted report of the flow of water
through the main line meters for the period ending August 15th, 1932, showing the flow to
be normal, and report was ordered filed.
BUILDING PERMITS.
Applications for Building permits were presented, read, and disposed of as follows:
