MAYOR VETOES LICENSE ORDINANCE. In the matter of the Business License Ordinance passed by the City Council and submit ted to the Mayor,for consideration, Mayor Bangerter orally stated his objections to the proposed ordinance and submitted the following communication in relation thereto: Port Townsend, Was:ington, August 2nd, 1932. City Council, Washington. of Port Townsend, B Gentlemen: - I am fully in accord with the spirit of the effort to replenish the deplete treasury of the city, but I do not concur in discriminations of various trades, profession and businesses outlined proposed in this ordinance. The laws of this State give this council power to license any and every kind of business implying, however, that that powershall be applied fairly and equitably. Bringing up the matter of the overdraft or deficit in the City Current Expense Fund, Councilman Smith spoke strongly on the necessity of reducing expenses in every form to meet the deficit and to balance the budget. Lammers,Sr., Mayor protem. presiding in the absence of Mayor Bangerter. ROLL CALL. Upon Roll Call, there were present City Attorney Jae. V1. B. Scott, City Clerk C. F Christian, and Councilmen E. M. Starrett, S. V. Peach, Wm. Lammers,Sr., and Jacob Mille Councilmen Aldrich and Smith arriving later in the session. MINUTES READ AND APPROVED. Minutes of the regular session of August 2nd, were read and approved as read. Arrival of Councilman Aldrich. Councilman Clark Aldrich arrived during reading o] minutes and thereafter took part in the proceedings of the Council. 1 I� 1 REPORTS OF OFFICERS. City Attorney, on Library Matters. In an oral report City Attorney Scott advised the City Council relative to the Sti Laws governing the operation of the Public Library, with especial reference to the sta of the Board of trustees and the Librarian. Arrival of Councilman Smith. Councilman W. B. Smith arrived at this time and there took part in the proceedings of the Council. CITY CLERK. Salary Warrants Issued. City Emgineer Sadler submitted report of the flow of water through the main line meters for the period ending August 15th, 1932, showing the flow to be normal, and report was ordered filed.
