Reports of Standing Committees were presented and read, as follows: Finance and Claims; to -wit: II Port Townsend, Wash., August 2nd, 1932 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Port Townsend. Gentlemen: Your Committee on FinanceandClaims, to whom was referred the matter of City Treasurer's report for June, 1932, would respectfully report as follows: lYe find same to be correct. W. B. Gentlemen: Your Committee, on Water and Drainage, to whom was referred the matter of Water Superintendent's report for June, 1932, would respectfully report, as follows: We find same to be correct. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash., Gentlemen: - Permission is requested to make general repairs to my dwelling house at 507 Van Buren St., at an estimated cost of $100.00. hespectfully submitted, J. J. Byrne. It was moved by Councilman Miller and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said ? permit be granted. Motion declared carried. t, j' S Councilman Smith arrives. Councilman W. B. Smith arrived in the Council Chamber just prio to the above ballot and thereafter took part in the proceedings of the Council. CONCSUIlICATIOII3. From Library Board, Re: Mrs. F. W. Walsh. A communication from the Board of Trustees of the Public Library was presented and real, as follows: Port Townsend, Washington. Honorable Mayor: - The Library Board desires to recommend the name of Mrs. F. W. Walsh to fill the + unexpired term of the late Mrs. Dan Hill. May B. Communication from Library Board, Re: Salary of Librarian. { A communication from the Library Board protesting the proposed , i reduction in the salary of the Librarian, was presented and read, as follows: Port Townsend, Wadhington, August 2, 1932. 3r Honorable Mayor and City Council: - Vie, the membern of the Library Board wish to protest the cut made in the librar- ian's salary. Marriott, Secretary.?" {� City Clerk to notify Board, (III A motion by Councilman Smith, seconded by Councilman Miller,in II' relation to the foregoing communication, was withdrawn and it was then moved by Councilman 7< Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Peach that the City Clerk be instructed to inform the Library Board and the Librarian that it was the sentiment of the Council that the Librarian should accept the reduction as proposed, in common with other officers and employees of the II; h City. Taking up the communication of the Library Board relative to appointment of a new men ber, Mayor Bangerter announced the appointment of Mrs. F. 111. Walsh as a member of the said Library Board for.the unexpired term of the late Mrs. Dan Hill, as recommended by the Li- brary Board. It was moved by Councilman Peach and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said appointment be confirmed. Motion declared carried. JAS. H. COYNE RELEASE. Communication from Jas. H. Coyne, releasing the City from liability with reference to contract, was presented and read, as follows: Port Townsend, Plash., July 28th, 1932. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Washington. Gentlemen: - For and in consideration of the sum of $1491.77 (Fourteen Hundred Ninety OneDDbllars and seventy Seven Cents), the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the undersigned does hereby release the City of Port Townsend of all claims against said City growing out of or connected with contract for "Constructing Improvements to Olympic Gravity Water Sys- tem." This release is executed in compliance with Section 17, Page 7, of contract for "Con- structing the Improvement to Olympic Gravity Water System" made and entered into November 18th, 1931, by and between the City of Port Townsend and the undersigned. Jas. H. n. 7as. H. CoyneCoy, Ceontractor. It was ordered that said release be duly filed. Delinquent Water Accounts. Water Superintendent Green submitted the following communication in relation to delin• quent water accounts, to -wit: - Port Townsend, Washington, August 2, 1932. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash. Gentlemen: - I would like to submit a few of the water customers, from whom I am unable to collect the water rents from. I would also appreciate some instructions in regard to thi Matter. Roy Mahan $ 19.30 P. J. Order to shut-off: It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Smith that Supt. Green be instructed to serve nrittenanotice sohcthe 16aAd:•delinquents that the accounts must be paid by August loth and if not paid, the water service is to be shut off and not to be turned on again until all back indebtedness is paid. Upon Roll Call, all five Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Leave of absence to Ben Green. Water Supt. Green presented written request for leave of absence, as follows: Port Townsend, 'Sashington, August 2, 1932. To the Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, Wash. Gentlemen: - I would like a leave of absence of ten days, when I can best be spared from my duties here. Yours very truly, Ben Green, City Water Supt. It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the leave be granted, to be at no expense to the city. Motion declared carried. NEW BUSINESS. Bids for Wood. This being the date set for opening bids to supply the City with 15 cords o1 wood, Mayor Bangerter declared the same to be in order, and the following bids received in accordance with published call fod bids, were now opened and read as follows: From Chas. J. Nelson, to -writ: Port Townsend, %Yeah., August 2, 1932. Honorable Mayor and City Council of Port Townsend, Wash. Dear Sira:- I will furnish 10 cords of 4 ft, old growth wood cut three times for $5.40 per cord delivered to the City Hall. Yours very truly,
