OCCUPATION LICENSES: The Finance Committee submitted a communication -report on the proposed Business Licens Ordinance, which was rea , as follows: Port Townsend, Washington, June 7, 1932 To the City Council, Port Townsend, Washington. Gentlemen: To meet the Current Expense deficit estimated for this year the undersigned Fi- nance Committee hereby recommends that a business and vocation license ordinance for the enclosed and additional listed classifications be drawn for the early consideration of the Council. Said Report was referred to the Finance Committee and the City Attorney. OLD MARKET BUILDING. Councilman Lammers reported that the old Farmers Market Building, ormer y locaTed on Polk Street at the corner of Lawrence Street, had been torn dorm and all lumber and debris removed. INSURANCE RATING REPORT. Councilman Aldrich, reporting verbally on the recent rating given this city by the Washington Surveying and Rating Bureau, stated that he considered some of the defidiency items were arbitrarily rated and unfair and believed that the Engineer of th said Bureau should be invited to come again and meet with the city authorities to take up the matter of a bettor rating. Councilman Starrett stated that he was also in favor of the points made by Councilman Aldrich. TO INVITE INSURANCE ENGINEER. It was then moved by Councilman Aldrich and seconded by Coun- cilman Starrett that the Engineer of the said Bureau be invited to come to the city to take up the matter of the deficiencies charged against the city. Motion Declared carried. STREET LIGHT. Taking up the matter of the petition for the installation of a street light at or near the intersection of 31st Street and Sheridan Avenue, it was moved by Councilman Aldrich and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the petition be filed for future reference inasmuch as no funds are available for installing an additional light or lights at this time Motion declared carried. BUILDING PERMITS. Applications for Building Permits were presented,read, and disposed of as follows: From R. Dalgardno, to -wit: Port Townsend, Wash., May 24, 1932 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash. Gentlemen: Permission is requested to erect a frame garage on the Dalgardno 'tract bounded by Lawrence, Scott, Lincoln and Walker Streets, garage to face on Scott Street, about 75 feet South of Linclon Street. Respectfully submitted, C. LaForge. It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Miller that the said applications be granted. Motion declared carried. COMMUNICATICINS. STANDARD OIL COMPANY ACCEPTS FRANCHISE. A communication from Standard Oil Company accepting Wharf=`ranchise, was presentee and read, as follows: Seattle, Wash., May 21, 1932. Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Washington. Gentlemen: - We, the undersigned, herewith accept all terms and agreements as contained in Ordinance No. 1017, as passed by the City Council and approved by the Mayor of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, on April 19, 1932. It was ordered that said communication be filed. FOREST SERVICE -EASEMENT. A communication from the Forest Supervisor, Olympic National Forest, was presents and read, as follows: - Olympia, Washington, June 4, 1932. Mayor, City of Port Townsend, Port Townsend, Washington, Dear Sir: - As you no doubt know, we are constructing or converting the old railroad grades in the Snow Creek Area and Little Quilcene Area into motor ways to be used in transporting men and equipment by truck for fire suppression purposes. We have secured rights of way from the McCormick Company, for a througgh route from Snow Creek to Little Quilcene; and we note that the NE4 Sec. 9, T. 28 N . , R. 2 W. is owned by the City of Port Townsend, and sine the old grade extends through this area we would like very much to have a right of way for our road over this land. We are enclosing a right of way deed or easement as required by our office, and we she appreciate it very much if you will have this deed executed and returned to us. If this f is not satisfactory, or if any other information is necessary, we shall be very glad to pre pare a deed to conform with your standards or policy; or we shall be glad to have you prepa the deed. As I have stated, we would like very much to get this right of way, and if you will he the deed executed and forward to us, we will appreciate it very much. We are enclosing a Form 319 for your information in preparing or executing the deed. We are also enclosing a voucher in the amount of $1.00 to legalize the transaction. Please have the voucher signed and return with the executed deed. We shall appreciate it if you will place this with the proper officials to see that as tion is taken. Very truly yours, H. L. Dear Sir: - The certification of mileage through cities and towns by the Director of Highways to this office did not include your town for either 1931 or 1932.
