Dobbs was presented and road, no follower ' To the Mayor and Members of the City Council, Fort Townsend, Washington, October 20th, 1931 i Door Sires - I would like to know what to do about the warrants drawn on the Current Expense Fund. The Fund is overdrawn. Shall I just keep on paying them until the taxes come in sufficiently to put the fund back in its proper place in the lodger. The last half of the taxes for this year are due next month but we may have to carry the Ourront Expense Fund along until the taxes are paid in the spring. Communication from Port Townsend Southern Railroad Company was presented and road, as follevra: i Seattle, Wash., September 17, 1931 Mr. C. F. Christian, City Clerk, Port Townsend, Washington. Dear Sirs - Referring to your favor of the 16th inst. The likelihood of our line ever resuming passenger service is very romote and as the cost of putti: in steel ties etc in connection with paving botwoen the rails would be so exponsive we hero decided to aban- don the two blocks of our line on Water Street where the city paving would be installed. Permission is requested to reshingle the dwelling house at 931 Clay St., at an estimated cost of Respectfully submitted, R. A. Gailey From Mrs. E. Shattuck, to -wit: To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Wash., October 13, 1931 Port Townsend, Waah. Gentlemen: Permission is requested to mako general repairs to my dwelling house at 1226 Garfield Street, at an estimated cost of $30.00. Respectfully submitted, Mrs. E. Shattuck, by August Wolter. From J. J. Bishop, to -wit: To the Honorable Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, wash., Oct. 13, 1931 Port Townsend, Wash. Gentlemen: ' Permission is requested to move a small building about 10 x 12 feet in dimensions, from Lot 5, Blk 15, across the street to Lot B, Block 14, Mountain View Addition to the City of Port Tmwnsend. There will be no obstruction to traffic as it will not take more than on hour to complete the job. Respectfully submitted, J. J. Bishop. It was moved by Councilman Miller and seconded by Councilman Lwrmorc that said applications be granted. Motion declared carried. REQUISITIONS: CITY HALL, FOR WOOD. Requisition for supplies was presented and read as follows: For City Hall Dept; 6 cords wood (Roy Searcy) It was moved by Councilman Lafferty and seconded by Councilman Muller that the said requisition be gran- ted and that the City Clerk be instructed to advertise for bids for the said wood, bide to be opened at the session of ??or. 3rd, 1931. Motion declared carried. 11 II L 11 I I (Ordinances and Resolutions continued) Emor6oncy Ordinance for Public Library. The proposed emergency ordinance for the Public Library Fund, introduced and read at the session of Oct. 6th, and laid over to this session and entitled, "An Ordinance declaring an emergency for the inaaadinto ap- propriation and expenditure in the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars for the Public Library for addition- al clerk hire to index the property of said Library, and the authority to issue emergency warrants therefor,' was now taken up and read in full. The Mayor called for objections, if any, to the proposed ordinance and no one desiring to be heard either for or against the said ordinance, it visa moved by Councilman Lamers and seconded by Councilmon Miller that the first reading be considered the second reading and that the third rea ding be by title only. Upon Roll Call, all five councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. Third Reading asrd Passage. The following is a full, true, and correct copy of the said ordinance as passed by the City Counoil October 20, 1931, approved by the Mayor October 21, 1931, and published in the Port Townsend loader October 22, 1931, to -wit: ORDINANCE NO. 1014 An Ordinance declaring an emergency for the immediate appropriation and expenditure in the aum of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars for the Public Library, for additional clerk hire to index the property of said library, and the authority to issue emergency warrants therefor. Whereas it having boon made to appear to the City Council that there exists an emergency for the Imme- diate appropriation end expendutire in the aum of One Hundred and Fifty Dollars for the Public Library, for additional clerk hire to index the property of said library; and that such appropriation and expenditure in said sum for said purpose could not have been contemplated and foreseen at the time of making up and adopting the budget for the Publid Library for the your 1931, New Therefore, The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, do ordain as follows: Section 1. That an emergency be and is hereby declared for the immediate appropriation and expenditure in th6dsum:;ofcOnaoHdndrsd:,and Fifty Dollars for the Public Library, for additional clerk hire to index the property of said library, and that emergency warrants in said sum are hereby authorized to be issued. Section 2. That this ordinance be published once in the Port Townsend Leader and to be in force and take affect five days after such publication. Mayor Bangerter stated that the Mutual Business Club desired to erect street signs as aevora prom rent intersections and inquired if there could be any objection on the part of the Council.
