Washington Fisherman's Co -Operative Packing Company, having filed with the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, a petition requesting the vacation of a part of a street in said city, to -wit: That portion of Morrison Street situate and being between the Northerly lino of Washington Street and the Southerly line of Jefferson Street, in Hastings 2nd Addition to the City of Port Townsend, iY'a shingtan; NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN That pursuant to a resolution passed by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend on the 16th day of June, 1931, a hearing will be had on the said petition at 8 o'cloak P.Li., or as soon thereafter as practica- ble, on Tuesday, the Slat day of July, 1931, in the council chambers of the city council of the City of Port Townsend, Jefferson County, Washington, when and whore any person or persons may appear and make exceptions or objections to the proposed vacation. Mayor Bangerter then called for presentation of exceptions or objections to the proposed vacation, if any there be. None being presented, the Council granted the floor to Mr. E. A. Simo who explained the needs of the cannery to the effect that if the cannery was to expand, no other pooperty was available and that the acquirement of that part of Morrison Street by vacation was absolutely necessary to the further development of the said cannery business. Petition granted. Some further discussion followed relative to the possible abandonment of the propert by the Packing Company but nothing definite was proposdd and uponl.the suggestion of City Attorney Scott, it was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said petition be granted, to be followed by an ordinance covering the matter. Upon roll call, all five councilmen present, namely; Starrett, Aldrich, Smith, Lafferty and Lammers, vo- ted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried. SPECIAL INDUSTRIAL C010.1ITTEE. Following a discussion relative to the foregoing proposed vacation and other industrial matters, Mayor Bangerter stated that he believed there was need for a Special Industrial Committee of the City Council and named Councilmen Smith, Lamers and Starrett as such committee. SPECIAL COLVITTE ON STREET PAVING. Bringing up the matter of street paving, Councilman Starrett stated that in his judgment, a special committee of the city council was needed to consider ways and means of paving certain streets and he made a motion which was seconded by Councilman Aldrich that the Mayor be requested to appoint a special committee on paving problem. After some discussion the motion was withdrawn. -- PAVING COVTITTEE APPOINTED. Following the withdrawal of the foregoing motion, Mayor Bangerter stated that the advantage of having such a committee was apparent and that he would appoint the following members of the Council as such Special Committee on Street Paving, to -wit: Councilmen Starrett, Aldrich and Lafferty. RECESS. It was moved by Councilman Lamers and seconded by Councilmen Starrett that the Council reason for Ten minutes. Motion carried and reeees declared. COUNCIL RE -CONVENES. ROLL CALL Council re -convened at 10 o'clock P.M., and upon roll call there wore present Mayor George Bangerter, City Attorney Jas. V.I. B. Scott, City Clerk C. F. Christian and Councilmen E. M. Starrett, Clark Aldrich, W. B. Smith, W. S. Lafferty and 'Nat. Lammers Sr. AWARD OF TRUCK INSURANCE. Reporting on the matter of insuring the city'e motor vehicles, Councilman Starrett moved, t o motion being seconded by Councilman Lafferty, that the city accept the proposal of George 7.1alch to insure the Ford Truck used by the Water Dept., for fire and public liability, and to accept the pro- posal of H.'11. Merriam to insure the Chevrolet Truck used by the Street Dept., for fire and public liability and also the Russell Grader for fire only. Upon roll call all five councilmen present voted in the affirm- ntive and motion was declared carried. COUNCI�;)RNS.
