The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, mot in regular session this 14th day of July 1931, at 8 P.M., in the Council Chamber of the City Hall, Mayor George Bangerter presiding. ROLL CALL. Upon Roll Call there were present Mayor George Bangerter, City Attorney Jae. W. B. Scott, City Clerk C. F. Christian, and Councilmen Jacob Miller, E. N. Starrett, S. V. Peach, IV. B. Smith, W. S. Lafferty, and Widlcam,Lamers, Sr.; Councilman Aldrich being the only absentee. MINUTES ADOPTED AS WRITTEN. It was moved by Councilmen Peach and seconded by Counoilman Lafferty that the minutes of the regular session of July 7th be adopted as written. Motion declared carried. i REPORTS OF OFFICERS. Mein Line Motor Readings. City Engineer Sadler submitted a routine report of the flow of water through the main line meters for the period ending July 6th, 1931, showing that the flow was normal. Report ordered filed. Coat of Water Main Replacement, 0. C. FIas L•in6s Add. City Engineer Sadler submitted a written report and estimate of cost of replacement of pipe line as petitioned for by water patrons in 0. C. Hastings Addition, as follows: To the Mayor and City Council, Port Townsend, Washington, Juno 26, 1931. Gentlemen: Pursuant to your instructions of June 15, 1931, relative to a 4" wood main on 22nd Street in the 0. C. Hastings Addition. It would require about 730 feet of 4" wood pipe togehter with fittings and valves. This would construct a lino to approximately the center of Blocks 8 and 17. The nearest fire hydrant at the present is at the corner of Haines and 22nd Streets or 710 foot Easterly from the and of the proposed line. If it is your wish to place a fire hydrant, one of the old hydrants taken out on Water Street eouli be used. The estimated coat of this work including lead for fire hydrant is $366.25. OFFER TO SELL WATER BONDS. follows: A telegraphic offer to sell the city certain water bonds at a discount, was presented end read as Mayor and City Council, Seattle, Wash., July 14, 1931 Port Townsend, Wash. We can offer subject prior sale twenty-five thousand City of Port Townsend water revenue five one one-half per cent bonds at ninety-seven one-half. Suggest this would make ideal investment for surplus now shown in water department. Such an investment would offset interest now being paid. IN THE MATTER OF THE PETITION OF Port Commission of the Port of Port Townsend ) and the Washington Fishermen'a Co -Operative Packing Company for the vacation ) PETITION. of certain streets in the City of Port Townsend, Jefferson County, Washington ) TO THE HONORABLE'. MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL OF PORT =YNSEND, JEFFERSON COUNTY, STATE OF WASRINGTON, We the undersigned owners of real property abutting upon the streets hereinafter described do petition that the following described streets be vacated, vie: 1. Front Street from the East margin of Benedict Street to the West margin of Thayer Street. 2. Water Street from the East margin of Benedict Street to the West margin of Thayer Street. 3. Washington Street from the East margin of Benedict Streot to the West margin of Thayer Street. 4. That the Port of Port Townsend also owns Blocks 25 and 161 in L. B. Hastings 2nd Addition to Port Town- send, Washington abutting upon the Southerly part of Washington Street between Benedict Street and Thayer Street. That the Washington Fishermen's Co -Operative Packing Company one Blocks 72 and 168 in L. B. Hastings 2nd Addition to Port Townsend, Washington, abutting upon the Northerly part of Washington Street between Benedict Street and Thnyor Street. The owners heroin set forth that the streets upon which their property is abutting are owners of all the property abutting upon that part of said streets sought to be vacated. Your petitioners respectfully represent that all of said street or parts thereof set forth in this peti- tion are useless as a part of the general street system and the vacation thereof will bewithoutinjury to an; ..public or private interest and will be a great benefit to the public and to the city. A resolution setting a date for a hearing on the foregoing petition was next submitted and read, as fol lava, to -fits Resolved by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, that the hearing of the petition of the Port Commission of the Port of Port Townsend, a Municipal Corporation of the State of Washington, and the Washington Fishermen's Co -Operative Packing Company, a corporation, for the vacation of streets in the L. B. Hastings' Second Addition to Port Townsend, Washington, as follows, to -wits 1. Front Street from the East margin of Benedict Street to the West margin of Thayer Street. 2. Water Street from the East margin of Benedict Street to the West margin of Thayer Street. 3. Washington Street from the East margin of Benedict Street to the West margin of Thayer Street. 4.
