Gentlemen: _ Your Committee, on Water and Drainage to whom wan referred the matter of Water Superintendent's Re- port for June, 1931 would respectfully report as follows: We find same to be correct. Said reports were ordered filed. ouncilmon Smith Reports verballyrt Councilman Smith, reporting upon the Hastings Avenue water tap and other services, stated that as a eault of a check up several now patrons were paying for water. udeoke Protests Mr. A. Ludooke, who maintains a residence in the Eaglost Building, made a protect against paying an xtra rate for water, stating that he wan occupying the building as caretaker for the Eagles. Also that if ompelled to pay an extra rate he would demand that a meter be inatalled. The matter was referred to the Wat smmittee, the Water Superintendent, and the City Engineer. ohneon and Black Protest: A Mr. Johnson, living on Hastings Avenue outside of the city limits, wee given permission to speak nd protested against cutting off the tap on Hastings Avenue, stating that he had paid hie water rent regular nd needed the water badly. He denied that he had blocked the road or inconvenienced any other water patron. e further stated that he had stock and that the tap on Hastings Avenue was practically his only means of so- uring water. A Mr. Black, also living outside of the city limits in the same neighborhood, stated that it would work an extreme hardship if they were not allowed to get water from the tap on Hastings Avenue. They agreed o box up a tap and keep a look on the box so that only the consumers paying for water could use it. This latter woe also referred to the water committee. Mr. E. A. Sims, who was in the Council Room, requested information about tapping the main line *= citoiat, and was advieod that this could not be done under the terms of the lease with the National Pa a Company.
