On Water Superintendent's Reports The Committee on Water and Drainage submitted the following reports
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council Port Townsend, Washington, June 2, 1931
of the City of Port Townsend.
Gentlemen:
Your Committee,on Water and Drainage, to whom wan referred the matter of Water Superintendentta re-
port for the month of April, 1931, would respectfully report as followas We find some to be correct.

Water and Drainage.
Hydrant at Lawrenoo and Sheridan. Councilmen Lammers, reporting vorbally,on'the petitiba"for�.a:hydraht
at the intersection of Lawrence Street and Sheridan Avenue, recommended that a hydrant be installed at that
location an there were a number of buildings there without fire protection.
Water Department to Install Hydrant. It was then moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Council-
man Poach that the Vlater oper men{-Leinstructed to install a hydrant at the said location. Motion de-
clarod carried.
Insurance on Trucks: Owing to an apparent misunderstanding, the apeoial committee appointed to secure
�grvposali for nsuranoe on the City's motor vehicles, no report was submitted and the committee was continued.

(Reports of Standing Committees).
Old Pipe on Water Street.
The matter of removing the old wooden water mains on Water Street was brought up by the Mayor and
in regard to cost of the work, City Attorney Scott stated that in hie opinion, the work could be done under
Mr. Coyness contract as extras. Asked for his opinion, City Engineer Sadler recommended that the pipe be
taken up at once if the street was to be paved. ' Councilman Lammers recommended that final decision be de-
ferred another two geeke for further consideration. Upon inquiry as to the use to which the surplus in the
Water Bond Improvement Fund could be put, City Attorney Scott gave it as his opinion that any surplus could
be used for further improvements to the Water System. After some further discussion, the Committee was gives
two weeks more time to report on the matter.
Street Committee.
Juiao Street Zi ze , The matter of the condition of the Zigzag incline walk on Quinoy Street, at
Jefson S ree , ounc mnn Lafferty reported that repairs were needed. Asked for information, Street
Supt, Pollard stated that hoodlums were in the habit of tearing down the railing and otherwise damaging the
structure and that it was not in good condition. The Mayor requested that it be repaired ae good as its
condition would allow.
BUILDING PERMITS
Building Permits Preaenteds - Applications for Building Permits were presented, read, and disposed of
as follows,

Gentlemen:
Permission is requesced to install an underground gasoline tank on Calhoun Street, South of Water
Street, adjacent to Lot 2, Block 17, O.T. The tank will be located approximately on the property line, with
the pump located inside of the factory building. Tank and pump will be installed in accordance with the
regulations of the city.
