The City Clerk submitted to the City Council the returns of the General Election held December 2nd
and presented the following affidavit in relation thereto:

Statement of the Canvass made by the City Council of the City of Port Townsend,
of the returns of the
Municipal Election held in said City on the 2nd day of December, 1930, for the purpose of electing persons to
fill the offices of Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk, City Treasurer, Councilman
at Large, Councilman for the
Third Ward, Councilman for the Fourth Ward and a Councilman for the Fifth Ward.
The following is a full, true and correct statement of said canvass to made
by the City Council of the
City of Port Towwnsend, at a regular meeting held Dec. 16th, 1930, of the returns
of said Municipal Election
held in said City on December 2nd, 1930, and returns filed in the office of the
City Clerk, as canvassed by at

Resolution to Confirm Canvases
A resolution declaring the result of the election was next presented and read in full and it was
moved by Councilman Peach and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said resolution be adopted. Upon roll
call all nix Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.
The following is a full, true and correct copy of said resolution, to -wit:
RESOLUTION DECLARING RESULT OF ELECTION.
WHEREASt The election returns of the Municipal Election held in the City of Fort Townsend, on the 2nd
day of December, 1930, said date being the Tuesday after the first Monday in December in said year 1930, for
the election of persons to fill the offices of Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk, City Treasurer, Councilman -
at Large, Councilman for the Third Ward, Councilman for the Fourth Ward and a Councilman for the Fifth Ward,
have been duly and regularly filed with the City Clerk of said City, and by him brought before the City Coun-
cil of said City, W
AND WHEREAS: The said election returns on this 16th day of December, 1930, at a regular meeting of the
.City Council of said City of Port Townsend, have been duly canvassed and the attached statement of said can-
vass containing the whole number of votes oast at said election, what office they are elected, has boon duly
made and signed by the presiding officer of the City Council, to -wits by George. Bangerter, Mayor, and attested
Eby C. F. Christian, City Clerk and have been filed with said City Clerk,
AND WHEREAS: By said statement of canvass aforesaid, it appearst-
That for the office of Mayor, George Bangerter has received a majority of the whole number of votes cast
and the highest number oast for any one person, that is to any, he has received 243 votes out of a total of
281 oast for said office of Mayor.
That for the office of City Attorney, Jan. W. B. Scott has received a majority of the whole number of
votes oast and the highest number oast for any one person, that is to say, he has received 268 out of a total
of 281 oast for the office of City Attorney.
That for the office of City Clerk,'C. F. Christian has received a majority of the whole number of votes
oast and the highest number cast for any one person, that is to say, he has received 264 votes out of a total
of 281 cant for the office of City Clerk. '
,That for the office of City 'Treasurer, Harriett E. Dobbs has received a majority of the whole number of
votes oast and the highest number cant for any one person, that is to say, she has received 258 votes out of
a total of 281 for the office of City Treasurer.
That for the office of Councilman -at -Large, E. M. Starrett has received a majority of the whole number of
votes oast, and the highest number oast for any one person, that is to any, he has received 185 votes out of
a total of 281 cant for the office of Councilman-at-Larga.
That for the office,. of Councilman for the Third Ward, W. B. Smith has received a majority of the whole
number of -votes cast and the highest number oast for any one person, that is to say, he has received 53 votes
out of a total of 56 sent for the office of Councilman for the Third Ward.
That for the office of Councilman for the Fourth Ward, W. S. Lafferty has received a majority of the
whole number of votes oast and the highest number cast for any one person, that is to Say, he has received 51
votes out of a total of 56 oast for the office cf'Councilman for the Fourth Ward.
That for the office of Councilman for the Fifth Ward, Jacob Miller has received a majority of the whole
number of votes cast and the highestnnuinber oast for any one person, that in to say, he has received 66 votes
out of a total of 75 oast for the office of Councilman for the Fifth Ward.
'THEREFORE: By the City Council of the City of Port Townsend, on this 16th day of December, 1930J It is
Resolved, Ordered and Decreed; '
-Thattthe said George Bangerter has been duly and regularly elected Mayor of the City of Port Townsend.
That the said Jan. W. B. Scott has been duly and regularly elected City Attorney of the City of Port
Townsend.
That the said C. F. Christian has been duly and regularly elected City Clerk of the City of Port Town-
send:
That the said Harriett E. Dobbs has been duly and regularly elected City Treasurer of the City of Port
Townsend.
'That the said E. M. Starrett has been; duly and regularly elected Councilman -at -Largo for the City of Port
Townsend.
.That the said W. B. Smith has been duly and regularly elected Councilmen for the Third Ward, City of Port
Townsend.
That the said W. S. Lafferty has been duly and regularly elected Councilman for the Fourth Ward, City of
Port Townsend.
,That the said Jacob Miller has been duly and regularly elected Councilman for the Fifth Ward, City of Par
Townsend; And that said persons and each of them are entitled to full possession of, and to exercise the rune
tiona of said offices to which they are hereby declared respectively elected, at timbiprovided by laws of the
State of Washington, upon qualifying as the law provides.
It is further, Resolved and Ordered, that this Resolution be filed with the City Clerk and a copy spread
upon the record and minutes of this meeting. ,
Dated at Port Townsend, Washington, this 16th day of December, 1930.
