Statement of Canvass of Returns: After completion and announcement of result of said canvass, the following attested statement was presented and read: STATEMENT OF CANVASS OF RETURNS OF PRIMARY ELECTION. STATE OF WASHINGTON ) COUNTY OF JEFFERSON )SS. CITY OF PORT TOWNSEND) Statement of Canvass made by the City Council of the City of Port Towmeand of returns of the Primary Election held in said City on the 4th day of November, 19300 for the purpose of nominating candidates for the following respective offices, namely; Mayor; City Attorney; City Clerk; City Troasurer; Councilman at Large; Councilman for the Third R'ard; Councilman for the Fourth Ward; and Councilman for the Fifth Ward, to be voted for at the Municipal Election to be hold in the said City of Port Townsend, State of Washington, on the 2nd day of December, 1930. Resolution Declaring Result of Primary Election. t WHEREAS: The returns of the Primary Election held in the City of Port Townsend, State of Washington, on the 4th day of November, 1930, for the purpose of nominating persons for the offices of Mayor, City Attorney, City Clerk, City Treasurer, Councilman at Large, a Councilman for the Third Ward, a Councilman for the Fourth =� 'Ward, and a Councilman for the Fifth Viard of said City of Port Townsend have been duly and regularly filed wi' the City Clerk of said City, and by him presented before the City Council of said City; AND R•HEREAS, The said Primary Election returns on this 18th day of November, 1930, at a regular meeting of the City Council have been duly and regularly canvassed and the accompanying statement of said canvass, cc'. taining the whole number of votes cast for any person for any office and for what office has been duly made and signed by the presiding officer of the City Council, namely: George Bangerter, Mayor, and attested by C. I• (Resolution continued) AND WHEREAS, By said Statement and Canvass aforesaid it appears that for the nomination for the office of Mayor, Citizens Party, George Bangerter has received a majority of the votes cast, namely; 894 out of a total of 1151 oast for the nomination for said office of Mayor. That for the nomination for the office of City Attorney, Citizens Party, Jae. 71. B. Scott has received D. majority of the votes cast, that is to say he has received 925 votes out of a total of 1151 cast for the nomination for said office of City Attorney. That for the nomination for the office of City Clerk, Citizens Party, C. F. Christian has received a majority of all the votes cast, that is to say he has received 962 votes out of a total of 1151 cast for the nomination for the office of City Clerk. That for the nomination for the office of City Treasurer, Citizens Party, Harriett E. Dobbs has received a plurality of all the votes cast, that is to say she has received 502 votes out of a total of llbl cast for the nomination for the office of City Treasurer. ;bra That for the nomination for the office of Councilman at Large, Citizens Party, E. M. Starrett has re- ceived a plurality of all the votes cast,that is to say he has received 556 votes out of a total of 1151 cast for the nomination for the office of Councilman at Large. That for the nomination for the office of Councilman for the Third Ward, Citizens Party, V1. B. Smith has received n majority of all the votes cant, that is to say he her .,eceived 205 votes out of a total of 272 oast for the nomination for the office of Councilman for the Third Ward. That for the nomination for the office of Councilman for the Fourth Ward, Citizens Party, W. S. Lafferty has received a majority of all the votes cast, that is to say he has received 119 votes out of a total of 261 cast for the nomination for the office of Councilman for Fourth Ward. That for the nomination'for the office of Councilman for the Fifth Ward, Citizens Party, Jacob Miller has received a plurality of all the votes cast, that is to say lie has received 94 votes out of a total of 244 cast for the office of Councilman for the Fifth Ward. THEREFORE: By the City Council of the Cityof Port Townsend, Washington, this loth day of November, 1930 it is RESOLVED AND DECREED, That the said George Bangerter has been duly and regularly nominated for the office of Mayor of the City of Port Townsend by Citizens Party. That Jae. W. B. Scott has been duly and regularly nominated for the office of City Attorney for the City of Port Townsend by Citizens Party. That C. F. Christian has been duly and regularly nominated for tho office of City Clark for the City of Port Townsend by Citizens Party. That Harriett E. Dobbs has been duly and regularly nominated for the office of City Treasurer for the City of Port Tormsend by Citizens Party. That E. 14. Starrett has been duly and regularly nominated for the office of Councilman at Large for the City of Port Townsend by Citizens Party. That V1. B. Smith has been duly and regularly nominated for the office of Councilman for the Third Ward, City of Port Townsend, by Citizens Party. That W. S. Lafferty has been duly and regularly nominated for the office of Councilman for the Fourth Ward, City of Port Townsend, by Citizens Party. That Jacob Millor has been duly and regularly nominated for the office of Councilman for the Fifth Ward, City of Port Townsend, by Citizens Party,c and that said persons are entitled to have their names placed upon the official ballot to be voted nt the Man- 'iicipal Election to be held in the City of Port Townsend on Dec. 2nd, 1930. Adopted and passed by the City Council Nov. 18th, 1930. DR. GEORGE BANGERTER Mayor It was moved by Councilman Robbins and scconded by Councilman Miller that said Resolution be adopted Upon roll call all six Councilman present voted in the affirmative and motion declared carried. State Finance Boards City Attorney. Scott stated that the proceedings in relation to sale of those bonds •mould be reported to the State Finance Board. City Attorney Scott further stated that Mr. E. A. Sims had volunteered and promised to go to Olympia i interview the members of the State Finance Board in relation to bidding for the proposed bonds,and suggest that the Clark write a letter b£ appreciation to Mr. Sims for his efforts in behalf of the City. It was moved by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the City Clark be in - rusted to write such a letter to Mr. Simai Motion declared carried. rioial Bulletin Board: City Clerk stated that there was eonciderable need for a bulletin board at a public place for post- & official notices and that upon inquiry he had ascertained that such a board, 3 feet by 6 fact in size, old be erected for approximately $7.00, and that the County of Jefferson would probably pay half the cost. so that he had secured permission from the lessee to erect the board on the aide wall of tho Lamoreaux Drug ore. It ivan moved by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Aldrich that the City Clu:9c be authorize eontraob`for such a bulletin board if the cost of the City did not exceed $3.50. Motion declared carried. Councilman Miller asked about the unfinished condition of the jail windows and City Engineer Sadler stated that he considered Mr. DeLeors price too high, and that later Mr. 11. A. Hamilton had quoted a price of $18.00 to put in the vrind=c and other repair work around the jail. It was moved by Com:cilmin Miller and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the said job be awarded to H. A. Hamilton at a price of $18.00. Motion declared carried.
