M. in the Council Chamber of the City Nall. Councilman Vhn. Lammers, Mayor Pro Tom, presiding upon request of 1%yor George Bangertor to enable the Mayor to attend another mootiug. Robbins. Councilman Clark Aldrich arrived duriue reports of standing committesc and thereafter took part in the proceedings. zyf• <r BILLS AND CLAItiS '`��•sz'an<u: �1s..''m , ' Nov City Brick & Tile Company: Tony DeLeo, Proprietor of the Key City Brick & Tile Company, presented a voucher for complot0d concrete work on the City Jail as par agreement with City Engineer in the amount of $100.00 and petitioned that the claim be allowed at this session. Claim of Zelma Barrie: The claim of Zelma Barrie in the amount of 015.00 for typing and clerical work for City Attorney in preparing Bond Ordinance, and other work incidental thereto, and approved by City Attorney Scott was also presented for allowance. Claims Allowed: - By unanimous consent of the Council these claims were taken up for consideration, and it was mo7od i by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Smith that the claim of the Key City Brick & Tile Company, in the amount of $100.00, and that of Zelma Barrie, in the amount of $15.00, be allowed; and that the Mayor l and the City Clerk be authorized to draw warrants upon the proper funds in payment of some. Upon roll call all five councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion visa declared carried. REPORTS OF OFFICERS Treasurer's Report: The rapart of the City Treasurer for the month ending October 31st was presented, read and referred to the Finance Committee. Main Linn Mater Readings: City Engineer Sadler presented reports showing the flow of water through the main line meters for the period ending November 18th and same:.wore ordered filed. REPORTS OF STANDING COMMITTEES Written reports were submitted by several standing committees, as follows: Police and License Committee: The following communication-roport was presented by the Police and License Committee, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington, Nov. 18, 1930 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Port Townsend, Gentlemen: Your Committee, on Police and License, would respectfully report as follows: I think it would be advisable to instruct the Chief of Police to do what he can to slow down traffic on Water Street from the R.R. tracks east on same street. Buildings Committee: The following communication -report was presented by the Buildings Committee, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington, Nov. 10, 1930 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Port Townsend. Gentlemen: Your Committee, on Buildings & Misc., would respectfully report an follows: This is merely to call your attention to thei:fict after each rain the eaves on down spouts on City Hall emit certain quantities of water which will be a real detriment to the new concrete walk. ROBBI14S JACOB 14ILLER Said report was referred to the Building Committeo. � a 65 Minutes of Regular Session of Street Committee Reports - The Street Committee submitted the following communication-roport, to -wit: Port Townsend, Washington, Nov. 18, 1930 To the Honorable Mayor and City Council of the City of Port Townsend. Gentlemen: Your Committee, on Streets, would respectfully report as follows: I has been called to my attention that at various plaoen throughout the city certain streets are now closed by various property owners. Now I would suggost that the council instruct the street supt. to-supplyillddata that he can and then the city atty. notify the proper parties to at once removes all barriers, fences etc. Respectfully submitted, HARRY W. ROBBINS W. B. SMITH Order to Keep Streets Open: It was moved by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Smith that the City Clerk be directed to notify the Street Superintendent that he was to remove all fences .and other obstructions unlawfully built upon the streets. Motion declared carried. Verbnl Reports In relation to the maintenance of the State Highway within the city limits, Councilman Robbins reported that the Street Supt. had dug ditches along the shoulders of the said highway, which he did not be- lieve wan in accordance with the practice of the State Highway Department. (Councilman Aldrich arrived at this time.) Verbal Report on Rothschildls Building: Reporting verbally on application for building permit for the Rothschi.ld'n building, Councilman Miller, Chairman of the Building Committee, stated that the report on said application was unfavorable. Councilman Robbins brought up the matter of licensing miniature golf coarsen and inquired if any effort had been made to collect license, and if they were subject to license. After some discussion, it was moved by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Miller that the Chief of Police be instructed to try to collect a license from Miniature Golf Courses when operated for profit. Motion declared carried. Councilman Robbins brought up the matter of the cost of the new water service and savior laterils installed in connection with Water Street Improvements project and moved, seconded by Councilman Aldrich, that the City Engineer and the City Clerk be instructed to make an estimate of the separate water connections and sewer laterals installed in connection with said project, and charge same to the property benefited. Motion declared carried. COMMGNICATIONS From Roberts, Skeel and Holman: Communioation from Roberts, Skeel and Holman presenting claim for balance due on contract was pre- sented and read, as follows: November 11, 1930 Mr. George Bangerter, Mayor Port Townsend, Washington Dear Dr. Bangerter: Res McCullemvs. City of Port Townsend and Ben Green. Enclosed herewith is itemized statement showing balance of $190.00 due us by the City of Port Townsend, after crediting as against the contract fee of $500.00 the voluntary waiver of $100.00 by on because of the action not having taken the time anticipated for trial; also after deducting the sum of $125.70 of expenses which Ben Groan defrayed independently of the city. We feel that the deduction which we have voluntarily made is due the city of Port 'Townsend, despite the fact that we have a contract with the city for the minimum fee of $500.00 on the two cases dofendai We had such excellent cooperation from you, Mr. Scott, Mr. Sadler, and Mr. Green that we wish to show our ap- preioation for that also by such deduction. .:We feel that Mr. Green should be complimented for having voluntarily defrayed a large por- tion of the expenses incurred. Permit us to express our sincere appreciation for the business furnished us and to thank you again for the courtesies extended. Judge Alston on November 8th, at Everett, as a result of a letter from Mr. Trumbull, con- senting to his passing on the motion for a new trial at such place, signed an order overruling the motion for new trial so that the case has now ended unless Mr. 'Trumbull appeals to the supreme court of the state.
