UNFINISHED AND NEW BUSINESS
Clerk to write Highway Departments
After some discussion as to the maintenance of the State Highway within the city limits, it was
moved by councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Lafferty that the Uity Clerk be instructed to write
to the State Highway Department to ascertain the exact status of the paved highway within the city limits.
Motion declared carried.
Settiement of Jones and Crouten Ulaims:
At this time Uity Attorney Scott reported that Jones and urouten had assigned claims for balances
due them on the Water Street Improvements Contract to the United States Pipe and Foundry Company and to
Hugh G. on in the sum of $2969.69, and that the said assignees had filed a receipt and release to the
City, and that a stipulation had been filed to dismiss the lien suits as against the City with prejudice.
The assignment and the receipt and release filed with the City Clerk were as follows$
ASSIGNMENT
For Value received, we do by these presents assign,' transfer and set over to the UNITED STATES
PIPE AND FOUNDRY COMPANY, a New Jersey corporation, and HUGH G. PURCELL, and individual doing business as
HUGH G. PURCELL COMPANY, all our right, title, interest and demand in and to n sum of money, to -wit$
:the sum of THIRTY*NINE HUNDRED SIXTY-NINE and 69/100 DOLLARS ($2969.69), now held in the City Treasury of the
City of Port Townsend, Washington, which sum s justly due and ordered paid to the undersigned by the City
Council,of the City.of Port Townsend as a final .estimate under contract with said city for a public work
known as "Water Street Improvements 19307.

RECEIPT AND RELEASE
KNOW ALL PERSONS BY THESE PRESENTSt That UNITED STATES PIPE & FOUNDRY COMPANY, for and in consi-
deration of the sum of THREE THOUSAND NINE HUNDRED SIXTY-NINE and 69/100tho DOLLARS, receipt of which is here
by acknowledged, this day paid by the City of Port 'Townsend, a municipal corporation, in full satisfaction
and settlement of all moneys due by said City of Port Townsend to T. Jones and C. R. Crouton, co-partners
doing business under the firm name of Jones & Crouton, on accouht of work under contract covering Watar Strei
Improvements 1930, authorized by Ordinances Nos. 947 and 991, does hereby release and discharge said City of
Port Townsend from any and all liability to it for pipe furnished by it to said Jones & Crouton for the pur-
pose of installation in effecting such improvements.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the foregoing receipt and release has been executed this 30th day of October,
1930, at Seattle, Washington.
