Fully understanding the city councils present position regarding street vacating we. are requesting
the olosi�_ permissions under the usual past practices of nominal rental fees and_yewrenewals at the doe
cret on of the city councils.
I shall be pleased to point out to your street committee or council as a whole the importance of
there closing permits to the institutions named. Both are important to Port Townsend from the standpoint of
annual expenditures and are growing with the city. Both have plans from expansion and improvements involving
to Bone degree their success in obtaining at least temporary usage of these street areas in question.
Adjoining property owners and residents have been canvassed and will offer no objections to the
closing plane. Where a street closing effects adjoining property arrangements for sharing the closing area
can be made. -
Street closing requested:
1..For St. Johns Hospital:- Cleveland Street from 7th to 9th (two blocks)
Eighth Street from Cleveland to Wilson (one block)
2. For Manresa Hall:- Wilson Street from bth to 7th (two blooks)sGiee

To the Honorable City Council of the City of Port Townsends
The undersigned respectfully petition that the following streets or portions of streets of Johnston'
Addition of the City of Port Townsend be vacated and in support of said petition-reprecoat and allege as
follows:

1. That the description of the streets Be requested to be vacated is as follows:
26th Street East of Cliff Street to John Lowman property.
27th " between Cliff and Eddy Street
27th " East of'Cliff 'Rtreet to John Lowmon property.
28th " between Gibbs and Howard Street.
29th " between Katherine and Howard Street.
Eddy Street between 30th and Hastings Ave.

2. That nano of such street so mentioned are in use for road purposes and there is no territory
adjacent to said streets which will in any way be damaged by the vacation of said streets.
3. That the purpose of such proposed vacation is to permit all such property to -be improved and
farmed.
4. That your petitioners are the owners of more than two thirds of all property adjacent to and
abutting upon such streets as are heroin proposed for vacation.
Wherefore upon due proceedings had, your petitioners pray that by ordinanoe said portions of said
streets herein above described be vacated.

Public Hearing on Crockett Lake:
Mayor Bangerter presented a communication from U. S. Engineer's office, War Department, stating that
a public hearing would be held in the Council Chambers of the City Hall at 1 P. M., September 16, 1930, in
relation to the proposed channel; from Puget Sound into Lake Crockett. Said communication was ordered filed.

It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by CounoiIman Peach that the said requisition be
granted. Upon roll call all nix Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.
ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS
Emergency Ordinance for Fire Departments'
An emergency ordinance `appropriating '$3000O for the Fire Department of the City and entitled:
"An Ordinance of the City of Port Townsend, Washington, providing for and authorizing an emergency
appropriation and payment of the am of #300.00, for the Fire Department of said City, and the authority to
issue emergency warrants in the said sum for such purpose."
Was introduced and -read in full for the first reading and in accordance with the statutes laid over
for one week.
Ordinance Vacating "T" Streets An ordinance submitted by Mr. Clyde -L. -Peach and entitled: "An Ordinance of the City of Port Town-
send vacating part of "T" Street from the east line of Walnut street to the west line of Oak street, between
Blocks 101 end 102, of Pettygrove'e Second Addition to the City of Port Townsend" was read in full for the
first reading. '
It was moved by Councilman Robbins and•sanonded by Councilman Richards that the.first reading be
considered the second reading and the third reading be by title only. Upon roll call Councilmen Aldrioh,
Richards, Lammers, Miller and Robbins voted in the affirmative and Councilman S. V. Peach was excused from
voting. Motion declared carried.
The City Clerk then read the ordinance by title only for the third reading.
It was than moved by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Richards that said ordinanoo

ing in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.
