Christian, City Clerk, Port Townsend, Washington. Dear Sirs RE: WATER -STREET IMPROVEMENT JOB - T. JONES AND C. R. CROUTEN, CONTRACTORS.' From the file placed in our hands today, it appears that our clients, United .States Pipe ds Foundry Company and Hugh G. Purcell Company, during last month filed a claim with your city in connection with in- debtodness owing by the above named contractors to our clients for pipe and fittings. We requoat to be advised whether the wob has been'approved and the contract accepted by the City Council. If acceptance has been given by the City Council, please inform us as to the date upon which the Cowncil's action was taken. Further, we ask that you kindly refer to the original contract between the contractors and the City of Port Townsend, for the purpose of giving us the quantity of pipe required by the contract to be used on the job. Letter of Approval to National Paper Products Company: City Clerk Christian reported that in accordance with instructions from the City Council he had written the following letter to the National Paper Products Company, to -wit: August 12, 1930 National Paper Products Company, Port Townsend, Wash. Attention Mr. A. B. Lowenstein. Gentlemen: With reference to your letter of July 23rd, 1930, requesting aletter from the City of Port Towne approving the work you propose to do at City Lake reservoir, consisting of raising the water level of the lake thereby inoreasing the storage capacity; I have to advise that the City Council voted to approve said work at the regular session of August 5, 1930, then wording of the motion being "that said work be approved if at no cost to the city." REQUISITIONS Requisitions for supplies were presented, read and disposed of, as follows: From Water Department, to -wit: 50 Metrograph cards, for main line meters. Bottles of Higgins Ink Block It was moved by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Lammers that said requisitions be granted. Motion declared carried. ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS AmendmentaltorProposedoBand Ordinanoe: City Attorney James W. B. Scott stated that in the matter of the proposed bond issue for the water works he had taken up the matter with the State Finance Committee, who as probable purchasers of the bonds, suggested several amendments to the proposed ordinance. City Attorney Scott then presented and read the proposed amendments, as follows: (1) That section 3 be amended to read as follows - "after the words "payable semi-annually' add the words Vor-annually, as may be agreed upon between the City Council and the purchaser of said bonder " the point of insertion being is line two, page three of said ordinance. It was moved by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Pesch that the amendment as read by3 the City Attorney be adopted. Mction declared carried. igilond Amendment: (2) That section 3 be amended to road am follows: After the sentence ending thus "by an equal annual tax levy for the payment of said bonds and interest", add a new sentence - "The said period of twenty- five years is a period, in the judgment of the City Council, equivalent to the life of the improvement to be acquired by the use •of.the bonds herein provided for." the point of insertion being at the end of line nine of,page three. It was moved by Councilman Robbins and seconded by Councilman Peach that the amendment, as read, be Indopted. Motion declared carried. i
