The City Council of the City of Port Townsend, "HAshington, met in regular session this
20th day of May, 1930 at 8 P.M. in the Council 'C1 mbrs (or the City Hall. Mayor George Bangerter
presiding.
ROLL CALL
Upon roll call there were present Mayor 'George Bangerter, City Clerk C. F. Christian, City
Attorney James W. B. Scott and Councilmen Harry R'. nobbins,'C1Rrk Aldrich, S. V. Peach, W. B. Smith,
William Lammers and Jacob Miller. Councilman R. E. Richards being absent.
MINUTES APPROVED
It• was moved by Councilman Poach and seconded by Councilman Robbins that the minutes of
the regular session of May 6th be approved as written. Noticn declared carried.
REPORTS OF OFFICERS
Meter Readings;
The City Engineer presented reports of main line meter readings showing a nominal flow
and said reports were ordered filed.
BUILDING PERMITS
Applications for building permits were presented, read and disposed of as follows:

Port Townsend, Wash., May 7, 1930
To the Honorable Mayor and City Council,
Gentlemen: -
Permission is requested to erect a dwelling house for G. A. Hunt on his property near
the residence of Col. J. C. Morrow, in Eisenbeis Add. Cost is estimated at $3000.00.

Gentlemen:
Permission is requested to make general repairs and alterations to my dwelling house
situate on the northerly half of Block 16, Brackens Addition to the City of Port Townsond. Cost is
estimated at $600.60; '

It was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Miller that the said permits
be granted. Motion declared carried.

Plans for Paper Company:
City Clerk Christian brought up the matter of securing plans and specifications of the
Quiloene River pipe line for the National Paper Products Company and asked for instructions relative
to cost of same. Mr. Lowenstein, who was present, stated that the company would pay whatever charge
there may be.
Warrant for State Examiner:
City Clerk Christian stated that the State Examiner had about completed his audit of the
city's accounts and requested authorization to draw a warrant for the amount of his claim to reim-

bursa the County Treasurer for money paid to the State Auditor for said audit. Upon roll call all
six Councilmen present voted in the affirmative and motion was declared carried.
Water for Marine Hospital:
Proposal to furnish United States Marine Hospital with water for the coming fiscal year
waseprosented and it was moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Peach that the Mayor
and the City Clerk be authorized to sign said proposal at the regular city rate. Motion declared
carried.'
Water for Fort Worden:
Contract to supply Fort Worden with water at regular city rates was presented, and it was
moved by Councilman Lammers and seconded by Councilman Smith that the Mayor and the City Clerk be
authorized to execute said contract. Motion declared carried.
Logging Liability:
The matter of liability for the extra costs of logging across the pipe line claimed by
the McCormick Lumber Company was now taken up, and Mr. A. B. Lowenstein, representing the National
Paper Products Company, was introduced and addressed the Council relative to the said liability.
After an extended discussion it was moved by Councilman Peach and seconded by Councilman Lammers
that the City Engineer be authoried to check up on the increased cost of logging over the pipe line.
Motion carried.
Proposed Bond Issue:
City Attorney Scott requested that the Council take up for discussion the probable issue
of general obligation bonds for completing the water supply line from the city limits to the reser-
voir. It appears probable that general obligation bonds in the amount of approximately $50,000.00
can be issued by vote.of the electors, and after a full discussion the matter was referred to the
Water Committee and the City Engineer to investigate and bring in recommendations, and to the Fi-
nance Committee to look into the matter of financing same.
Gravel Pit:
It was brought to the attention of City Council that the property known as the gravdl
pit in Pettygrove's Park Addition was again up for sale. In the discussion which followed it was
brought out that the City would be fully protected, and it was agreed to leave the matter in the
hands of Councilman Robbins, Chairman of the Street Committee.
ADJOURNMENT
Upon motion of Councilman Peach, seconded by Councilman Robbins, Council adjourned.
