Dinsmore, District Engineer of the State Highway Department, was presented and read as followa: Olympia, Wash., March 31, 1930 Ron. Mayor and City Council City of Port Townsend Port Townsend, Washington Gentlemen: State Road No: 9 Port Townsend - Ludlow Rd. Contract No. 1395 Mr. S. J. Foley, Resident Engineer for this Department at Port Townsend, who is handling the paving on State Road No. 9 from Ludlow Road to Tyler Street, advises that nothing has•been'done on the ground in moving the tracks to the center of Water Street. You are referred to my letter of January 31 in which I requested that you take such stepe as were necessary to have this track moved on or before the date of awarding this contract, which, as you know, was on March 18th. To pave the street with the tracks in the location as they exist at this time will make it necessary to.;iay the pavement further out than was contemplated and will seriously mar the appear- , anoe of this work. It is requested that you give this matter your early attention in order that the work may proceed as originally planned. ' Very truly yours, ORD:MJ 0. R. Witzdam Sewer: Communication from City Engineer Sadler relative to Water Street improvements was pre- sented and read as follows: March 26, 1930 To the Mayor and City Council Gentlemen: Attached to this letter is Estimate`#1 due Jones and Crouten, Contractors, Water Street Improvements for work on Sewer Laterals up to March 25, 1930. To this Estimate has been added $17.72 which is the cost of connecting the houses by Frank Witzdam situated on the South J, Lot 7, Block 38 O.T. The Sewer assessment on this lot was paid on the Washington Street Sewer. The South half of this lot cannot be connected to the Washington Street Sewer, therefore, the owner is entitled to a connection on Water Street. This property was formerly owned by James Dalgardno and the houses were connected to an old private sewer which was abandoned when Sewer District # 2 was completed. This Sewer emptied on the beach which is a violation of the Ordinance. Where Mr. Dalgardno got permission to make this connection I do not know. But I notified Mr. Witzdam that he would have to connect with the City Sewer System which he has done. A bill for $17.72 should be collected by the City for making this connection.
